We deliver treatmentand support across the neighbourhoods ensuring a holistic and inclusiveapproach to recovery in this exciting new service.
We arecurrently recruiting for a Registered Nurse (RGN) or Mental Health Nurse (RMN)to work in our City & Hackney Substance Misuse Service as a SeniorSubstance Misuse Nurse, where youll have the chance to make a real differenceto the lives of the people experiencing difficulties from substance misuse andalcohol dependency.
The Senior Substance Misuse Nurse will be responsible for the overall day to day leadership and development of Turning Points Nursing Team.
Main duties of the job
They will provide clinical supervision to the SpecialistSubstance Misuse Nurses and line to provide direction to non-clinical staff. Youwill be a professional role model; supporting and advocating adherence toevidence based clinical practice in the area of alcohol dependency andsubstance misuse. Working closely with the existing staff to develop, implementand promote our evidence-based alcohol withdrawal and substance misusemanagement protocols and act as point of contact for a cross-site,multi-disciplinary team of colleagues involved in the management and preventionof the physical and psychosocial adverse consequences of alcohol and substancemisuse.
In liaison with other clinical colleagues andsupported, the post holder will deliver educational tools to ensure appropriatereferral to existing Trust and community-based alcohol services at TurningPoint, with a focus on avoiding unnecessary hospital admission. Supporting the organizationand co-ordination of appropriate monitoring and audits of compliance, performanceand outcome of standards compatible with best practice. The post holder willpromote and maintain high professional and organizational standards, ensuringclose liaison with ACT and wider team within the hospital providing anexemplary, evidence based, integrated alcohol and substance misuse services forpatients.

Experience
Essential
RMN or RGN at degree level(or equivalent) with Current NMC Registration. Experience of working in and understanding of the substance misuse sector, particular experience in relation to assessing, management of medically assisted alcohol withdrawal (MAW). Experience of contribution to effective and safe care plans and discharge plans. Experience in delivering staff training/CPD. Awareness of health issues relating to substance misuse. 2 years in Substance Misuse at minimum band 6 level or equivalent. Experience of providing clinical leadership through managing and supervising multidisciplinary staff. Experience in multi-agency working and training. Awareness and experience of contributing to effective clinical governance. Experience in reporting and managing incidents effectively. Evidence of continuing personal development/revalidation and post registration training in the nursing care, assessment and treatment with substance misuse clients.-
