GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join one of our client schools in Maidenhead, Berkshire. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) and are committed to making a positive impact on their educational journey.

The Role:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with classroom teachers to provide tailored support to students with diverse learning needs. Your role will involve assisting with classroom activities, helping to create an inclusive learning environment, and ensuring that each student receives the support they need to succeed academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with SEN, adapting teaching methods to meet their individual needs.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Support classroom teachers in managing behavior and ensuring a positive learning environment.
  • Help students with daily tasks and activities, fostering independence and confidence.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, working closely with teachers and SEN coordinators.
  • Encourage social integration and help students develop interpersonal skills.
  • Create a safe and nurturing environment where students feel valued and supported.
Essential Requirements as an SEN Teaching Assistant:
  • Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs.
  • A patient, empathetic, and understanding approach to working with students.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
  • A commitment to promoting inclusion and supporting students' individual learning needs.
  • In possession of an Enhanced DBS or willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
