Job overview

A highly motivated individual has an exciting secondment opportunity with SCAS Operational Support Services to manage a small team in charge of implementing the new Logistical Digital Stock Control System into operation. Tasks would include, but are not limited to, training and mentoring, as well as developing and mapping new logistical processes.

Main duties of the job

  1. To supervise the operations of the Central Logistics Unit, overseeing the day-today running of the Central Logistics Unit, ensuring adequate stocks of medical consumables and stationary supplies are held at predetermined levels, organising delivery schedules and ensuring that staff carry out their duties in a timely, efficient and accurate manner, in accordance with Trust policy, protocol and procedure. This will involve a close working relationship with the Logistics & Distribution Manager.
  2. To liaise with other directorates within the Trust to ensure relevant supplies are held and delivery schedules fulfilled, and to ensure the department meets the needs of the service.
  3. To ensure that all station orders are fulfilled and receive as requested or determined and that any discrepancies are immediately brought to the attention of the Logistics & Distribution Manager.
  4. To comply with and ensure all departmental staff comply with relevant Trust’s policies.
  5. To ensure all requisitions are actioned (using Proactis or otherwise) within one day of receipt.
  6. To raise purchase orders with nominated companies within contractual arrangements (Using Proactis).
  7. To advise the Logistics & Distribution Manager on proposed departmental budget spend as required, ensuring adherence to standing Trust financial policies.
  8. Ensure that goods received at the Central Logistics Unit are stored as per manufacturer’s recommendations and in accordance with Trust Health and Safety procedures.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Person specification Interviw and Application Essential criteria
  • Proof of extensive broad experience in various stores positions and logistics centres in a supervisory capacity with an IT infrastructure.
  • Previous experience of working in supplies management, distribution and stock control, preferably in a supervisory role, in a controlled environment
  • Knowledge of stock control Systems
  • Knowledge of stock rotation
  • Experience of using a variety of IT software including Microsoft Office, and Excel for preference
  • B Category driving license
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Excellent Communication skills
  • Knowledge of Clinical device management
Desirable criteria
  • Qualified in the use of manual handling equipment
  • Knowledge of the NHS supply chain
  • Experience in driving commercial sized vehicles
  • Category C1 driving licence
