About the Role

DP World are currently recruiting for a Decarbonisation Manager to join our UK Ports & Terminals team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our decarbonisation strategy and implementing innovative solutions to reduce emissions and promote sustainable practices within port operations.

How you will contribute

Develop strategy and deliver projects that will provide a meaningful level of renewable power / electricity generation at DP world London Gateway. Our objective being to reduce our emissions in both absolute and relative terms (. on a unit basis) despite the expansion of the port handling capacity with the addition of the fourth container berth.  Develop long term strategy and pilot projects to assess the feasibility of electric charging infrastructure and potentially alternative fuel solutions for plant and machinery (London Gateway assets and third parties coming into the port).  Progress electrification of existing plant and machinery Electrification strategy for DP World Southampton. Currently the terminal is reliant on HVO to power the straddle carrier fleet and needs to develop long term strategy to switch to electric operations over the next 10 years. Progress pilot projects to install shore power supply for deep sea vessels at both London Gateway and DP World Southampton Assess renewable projects which are economically and financially attractive and can be delivered in the required time period. This will involve, a financial feasibility study, technology evaluation and an understanding of the commercial and regulatory environment. Assume overall responsibility for projects delivery which may include overseeing engineering and technical design; agreeing offtake / Power Purchase Agreements; managing project implementation and supporting the teams devising legal structure and securing external financing.  The role will also be involved in supporting existing electricity procurement contracts for London Gateway Port from the wholesale suppliers with a current budget of over £20m. This is a complex procurement exercise that needs to be overseen to deliver long term reliable and cheap power supply to the port.  This role will be required to work closely with the park development team to assess the electricity requirements of the park and engage with suppliers and consultants to arrange competitive electricity supply contracts for the park tenants. Work closely with the regional and global sustainability teams of DP World to align the sustainability and carbon reduction objectives of the two UK terminals with the wider Group.

What you will bring 

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred. Proven experience in driving decarbonisation initiatives within manufacturing or heavy industry.  Knowledge of environmental and power supply regulations.  Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and implement innovative solutions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Passion for sustainability and a genuine commitment to making a positive impact on the environment. 5-7 years relevant experience leading the implantation of renewable projects.
