What you’ll be doing

as a Process Technician Ensuring our sites are running safely, efficiently and within permitted site specifications to protect the environment. You will be responsible for monitoring, inspecting, and maintaining equipment and reporting any defective items to ensure a swift repair or attempting a first-time fix where possible. You will be expected to take ownership of your own and colleagues' health and safety by escalating any concerns to your manager or resolving them yourself where possible and appropriate. Collating and reporting of data to ensure statutory and regulatory compliance.

You do not need a background in the Water industry. We would welcome applications from candidates outside of the sector, bringing fresh perspectives and ideas, but you must be:

Comfortable working outdoors, potentially in all weather conditions. Prepared to work within the company’s rota of a 7-day working week and participate on a standby rota. Part of a team that delivers excellent performance by understanding how you affect the overall mission of Thames Water. Have a good sense of humour, because of what you will be working with and not to be too squeamish. Adaptable, flexible, patient, reliable and self-motivated. Good with time management. Confident to work effectively and efficiently on your own. Keen to learn and operate complex processes with high-quality controls. Able to complete basic tasks on a computer e.g., be able to input site performance data and view their day's work via a hand-held device.

What you should bring to the role

Full UK driving licence. Experience in delivering against challenging upper-quartile business targets and performance commitments. Builds and always maintains effective internal and external relationships to a high standard – acts as a role model. Ability to influence and drive the right culture and behaviours. A positive approach to handling changes, embracing all natures of change including technology, process, behavioural and organisational change. Demonstrate excellent customer service both internally and externally. Excellent communication skills. IT literate. Team player who can work in many different teams showing respect for others, providing helpful feedback and supporting the development of others.
