Overview

Pen Underwriting is one of the UK’s leading MGA’s with a bold vision to become a £1bn GWP underwriting and distribution business. This is an exciting opportunity within the operations team as a Business Process Improvement Analyst, responsible for the delivery of a number of strategic and tactical initiatives involving a mix of people, process and technology (e.g. new applications / software solutions) and risk and regulatory changes. This is a key role for supporting business and operational change by conducting both strategic and tactical improvement initiatives. Leading detailed analysis, documenting processes, developing, and implementing effective controls to optimise processes, and increase operational performance to support the reduction of costs. The candidate will utilise Lean Six Sigma principles, tools, and methodologies including value stream maps, standard work, 6s, visual management, facilitation, and change management skills to support continuous improvement with a focus on customer quality. The role will also include the identification of processes suitable for transitioning to our offshore team and managing the effective communication between teams during the transition. We offer a hybrid working model and you will be expected to be in a Pen office 2 days a week with 3 days working from home. We are flexible on location and would be interested to speak with candidates who are based across the UK especially those based in South and South East of England. How you'll make an impact Embed a lean governance structure and lead Business Process Reviews. Work with the business teams to identify, scope and prioritise improvement opportunities to drive operational efficiencies. Analyse problem statements to determine required interventions and establish performance baseline. Independently analyse and propose improvements to key business processes to drive efficiency and effectiveness. Create solid business cases and selling messages to articulate the value proposition to support the change. Apply lean and customer-centric design principles to improve capabilities, processes, and tools. Develop and execute well-structured work plans, facilitate project and governance meetings, and use Project Management, Lean, and system implementation tools / methodologies. Assist in the gathering and reporting of performance KPI metrics. Prioritise and manage multiple competing projects, deadlines, and customer relationships. Monitor, track, and report status of initiatives. Lead, oversee and influence others, especially to deliver projects on-time, on-budget, and to achieve / exceed the project goals. Facilitate issue escalations and resolution via coordinating solution development across the project team, steering committee, and key business stakeholders. Handle project risks and challenges effectively in a self-directed manner. Facilitate the successful implementation of project recommendations. Coordinate training and documentation (SOPs) required by the changes. Provide project and analysis support to Business Operations aligned to business strategy. Document processes for future M&A and Strategic Hire activities. Ensure active communication between the onshore and offshore teams. About you Previous experience gain in a business improvement/operational improvement role within a Insurer, Brokerage or MGA Insurance. Experience in changing and improving processes in areas such as underwriting/claims/bodereau . Lean / Six Sigma or similar qualifications. Project Management PMP, Prince 2 or MSP certification desired. Ability to utilise data collection / analysis tools & methodologies. Ability to conduct process mapping, root cause analysis. Knowledge of quality & process improvement methodologies. Ability to manage stakeholder relationships across Pen, including working closely with the Executive/Leadership team. Effective communication skills with stakeholders throughout the business. Experience of managing multiple initiatives concurrently.
