Due to our continued growth OCU Opals now hasan exciting new opportunity for an experienced Regional SHEQManager to join our team. The purpose of the role is to supporteffective SHEQ delivery within the east region ensuring allprojects are meeting the company and client expectations. Workingclosely with the operational management in their endeavours to keepour people assets and the environment safe fromharm.

Furthermore theRegional SHEQ Manager will build and maintain firm relationshipsthrough direct line reports with key stakeholders includingRegulatory Authorities Customers Industry Bodies DesignersContractor Management Teams and Site OperationalTeams

Duties andResponsibilities

To provide SHEQguidance / assistance to the Operational Regional Management Teamswithin their designated region.
Providing SHEQ supportfor the development of Regional annual SHEQ Plans.
Supporting Regional bid teams from a SHEQ perspective.
Ensuring SHEQ support is provided within the set up andmobilisation of new contracts depots and acquisitions.
Development of risk assessments method statements and SHEQ plans toinclude CDM Construction Phase Plans
Be visible and knownto the Regional Management team supported.
Conductsuitable and effective SHEQ Compliance monitoring activities(audit/engagements) in region and track the completion of allcorrective action.
Monitoring and tracking SHEQcompliance information (lead and lagging indicators) at regionallevel for trends etc.
Take a leading role in thedevelopment and publication of SHEQ communications.
Ensure SHEQ involvement is provided in worker consultation throughattendance at Management worker and customer forums /engagements.
Provide regular update reports on team /individual activities Business Unit performance and improvementactions initiatives and plans.
Play a lead role with theexternal accreditation and client audits.
Providingsupport for accident / incident investigations in relation toincidents.
Ensuring that accident / incident reportsinvestigations are effectively closed out with appropriatecorrective actions and recommendations fully implemented.
Take a lead / impartial role in investigating serious / significantaccidents and incidents.
Be empowered to stop or haltoperations deemed to pose risk of significant health safety orenvironmental breaches and impose sanction or improvement actionaccordingly.
Management of a team of SHEQAdvisors.
Recommend solutions in respect of significantSHEQ audit nonconformance adverse accident investigation findingsor poorperformance.

Skills andExperience

Knowledge andapplication of SHEQ management principles and best practice withinan Utilities services / construction operational arena.
NEBOSH Diploma / Construction Certificate or equivalent as minimumand preferably Chartered Member of IOSH (or actively workingtowards) as minimum.
A qualification in Environmental orQuality disciplines is desirable.
Good communicationskills both written and oral.
Professional approachselforganised and motivated to influence stake holders.
Interpersonal builds relationships internal / external.
Decision Making / Problem Solving.
Ability to develop andimplement effective SHEQ Management Process and Systems.
People management skills experience and ability in providing a SHEQsupport service.
