Job overview

We are offering an exciting opportunity to join our friendly Cardiac Investgations team at Worthing Hospital as a Healthcare Science Practitioner specialising in Cardiology, pending successful completion of Degree. We are looking for enthusiastic, highly motivated applicants wanting to further their training and experience in all areas of Cardiac Physiology with a view for progression and helping to shape our workforce for the future.

Main duties of the job

To assist in delivery of a high quality Cardiac Investigations service to inpatients and outpatients of University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust – Worthing Hospital.

To include:-

Working towards becoming a competent Cardiac Physiologist/Healthcare Science Practitioner post qualification within a wide range of investigations including pacemaker, ICD and complex device interrogation and follow-up with supervision; training and assisting in PPM/ICD/CRT device implant procedures; assisting in all invasive investigations in the Cardiac Catheter Lab and assisting in providing comprehensive reports; Working towards leading in Exercise Tolerance Testing as well as undertaking Holter analysis and reporting Organising and managing own workload Being conversant with Cardiac Arrest protocol Assisting in the supervision and training of other staff and healthcare professionals where required Providing a role model for the Trust's values, Patient First approach, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and inclusive leadership

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To communicate information to staff both Medical and Non-Medical

To communicate effectively with patients, to obtain their consent and cooperation, including patients with physical/learning disabilities, children or confused patients To communicate effectively with relatives of patients To promote a pleasant and efficient image during all dealings with internal and external organisations To develop good working relationships with other departments within the Trust To participate in the cardiac department meetings Liaise proactively with line manager and colleagues regarding any issues/areas of concern

BSc Healthcare Science (Cardiology) or BSc Clinical Physiology (Cardiology)
