Job summary

This is an excellent opportunity to work within the Dermatology Team based at Salford Royal Hospital. You must possess excellent customer service skills along with sound communication skills. You must be able to work on your own initiative to organise and prioritise your own workload and balance this with the demands of this diverse and varied role.

You will play a key role in the service we provide to our patients and must therefore have previous experience within an NHS setting. You will support the administrative and clinical team by managing the MOHS waiting list, ensuring our patients receive timely appointments for their assessments and minor procedures. You will be responsible for communication between other sites by ensuring all patients have appointments dates or pending.

You will take some ownership in ensuring patients 18 week pathways are validated and updated so some knowledge and understanding of Referral to Treatment standards would be beneficial.

A strong commitment to personal and professional development and teamwork are also essential elements to the success of this role. You will be supported by a team of secretarial and administrative staff and will report directly to your Support Manager.

Main duties of the job

A MOHS Dermatology Waiting List Co-ordinator and Booking Clerk is responsible for managing patient appointments and coordinating schedules for MOHS surgery. This role involves maintaining accurate patient records, managing the waiting list, and ensuring timely communication with patients regarding their appointments, cancellations, and rescheduling. The coordinator works closely with dermatologists and medical staff to optimise scheduling efficiency and patient flow. Additionally, they handle patient inquiries, provide information about procedures, and assist with administrative tasks. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities are essential to ensure a seamless, patient-focused experience in a fast-paced dermatology clinic.

The post holder is responsible for the provision of a booking appointment service using Patient Centre, electronic scanning equipment and fax machines. This will involve formal liaison with Service users including Service Managers to ensure that patients are seen within target dates and that clinic templates are managed to full capacity. The post holder will have the responsibility of managing a number of waiting lists and clinic booking summaries whilst providing a confidential, efficient and user friendly service.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

Previous experience working within a team. Office experience and knowledge of administrative procedures. Ability to communicate with patients and senior members of staff A good understanding of Microsoft Office, Outlook and hospital databases. Ability to prioritise workload / work on own initiative.

Desirable

Experience working within a healthcare setting. Previous experience in a fast-paced environment and rota-based roles.
