Assistant Housing Project Worker

Is this your first step in supported housing or working with care leavers and unaccompanied asylum seeking children? If so this role could be for you.

A new and exciting weekend opportunities for those wishing to develop their experience within the supported housing sector. A varied and important role from ensuring the highest health and safety standards are met - through to making vulnerable young people’s living space safe, secure and homely.

About the role

You will be involved in housing management tasks such as Health & Safety and Fire compliance, rent collection and providing monitoring reports. Daily activities will include:

Oversee the day to day finances including raising Purchase Orders, the banking, petty cash (cash and digital) / float and ordering of supplies. Deep clean of void rooms, and practical tasks such as putting together flat pack furniture and gardening. Reporting repairs and ensuring compliance works are carried out and dealing with contractors on site. Ensure that regular Health & Safety checks of communal areas and equipment are completed & communal areas are regularly cleaned, issues are logged and actioned appropriately.

In the absence of the key workers you will engage with young people, offering support that is needed, including liaising with professionals and dealing with incidents as and when they occur.

About you

Strong organisational abilities including: time management, creative-thinking, problem-solving and multitasking. Able to work flexibly and independently with limited management oversight.  Personal determination, drive, energy and ambition to achieve challenging objectives, celebrate success and deliver excellent outcomes for children using a strength based approach. Commitment to resource-sharing and collaborative working within Achieving for Children and across organisational boundaries in the best interests of children and families. Good communication and interpersonal skills that are open, honest, persuasive and pragmatic, including excellent negotiation and influencing skills.
