The post holders will be actively engaged in all aspects of support for the Echocardiography service andplay a crucial role in assisting with cardiac imaging procedures and supporting patients during diagnostic are some key responsibilities and tasks associated with this role: Checking equipment and ensuring its in working order. Reviewing physician orders and patient schedules. Inputting patient information into the system. Explaining examination procedures to patients. Answering any questions patients may have. Providing ambulatory assistance to help patients feel at ease during the process. Supporting specialist echo techniques, including stress and contrast echo. Collaborating with cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, and other healthcare professionals. Assisting with other cardiovascular monitoring tasks, such as blood pressure monitoring and remote patient monitoring
Main duties of the job
To assist the Echocardiographers by providing a high standard of patient care before, during and after the examination including obtaining patients height, weight, and blood pressure in accordance with instructions and training received
Maintain effective communication with patients, relatives, and members of the Multidisciplinary team regarding all aspects of care demonstrating a range of appropriate communication skills. Deal with enquiries and acting, where appropriate, and passing information promptly to the appropriate member of staff.
Show a sympathetic and caring approach to patients and to always observe patient confidentiality.
To liaise with porters, receptionists, and wards regarding transportation of patients to and from the dept. To assist in moving trolleys and chairs within the hospital and help with transferring patients on and off examination couches.
Ensure the correct Decontamination and Infection Control measures are in place for effective cleaning of ultrasound probes where applicable to ensure best practice and guard against infection - includes awareness of correct procedures, equipment validation and maintenance, record keeping and archive.
Ensure clinical area is prepared and maintained as appropriate to individual patient needs, ensuring areas are stocked appropriately. Complete daily checklists specific to each work area and take appropriate action where necessary.

Job description
Job responsibilities
Inspect relevant equipment used and ensure compliance with Health and Safety standards at all times.
Visually and verbally risk-assess every patient prior to carrying out any clinical investigation.

To maintain patient confidentiality at all times. Information concerning the Trusts patients and staff must be always treated as strictly confidential and you may not divulge it to any other person except with the authority of your Head of Department. Such authority may only be given when it is in the patients interest and is a necessary part of treatment. Unauthorised disclosure of confidential information will result in disciplinary action and may lead to your dismissal.
Responsibilities
To report all untoward events or uncertainties to a senior grade Cardiac Physiologist or Head of Department
To adhere to all Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and departmental policies and procedures
To visually and verbally risk-assess every patient prior to carrying out any clinical investigation on the patient
Clerical Duties
To carry out general clerical and administrative work, to include filing of all patient clinical investigation reports carried out within the department, to maintain efficiency within the department when a copy of patient clinical reports are requested
To liaise closely at all times with nursing, medical and paramedical staff that make use of the Cardiology service to ensure duties can be carried out effectively and efficiently
To compile daily statistical records of patient activity
