Job summary

We are looking for an experienced CAMHS practitioner with an up to date core profession and registration to join our Crisis and Home Treatment (CAHTS) team.

We are a close knit leadership team who provide a crisis and home treatment service to children and young people across Bristol, Swindon and Wiltshire CAMHS. This role would involve some home working and a clinical base can be agreed in one of our 5 CAMHS teams (Keynsham, Salisbury, Melksham, Marlborough or Swindon). We are looking for an individual who is keen to use their clinical skills to support children, young people and their families in crisis and the clinical and professional network around the young person.

We have a strong emphasis on training and the team has received training in NVR, Positive Behaviour Support, Motivational Interviewing and Eating Disorders over the last 6 months. We would be keen to hear about your area of clinical interest and are able to think about creating a job plan that will support your skills and expertise.

Main duties of the job

To provide a high provide therapeutic support to clients with complex mental health problems including severe, enduring and multiple disorders, and challenging behaviour. To offer advice, consultancy and supervision, and support the work of colleagues providing care and treatment, according to expertise. To provide training to a range of qualified and unqualified staff across mental health areas, as agreed. To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures. To utilise research skills for audit, and contribute to research and training within the areas served by the teams and service. To be involved in service developments, as appropriate.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Postgraduate qualification in family/systemic psychotherapy or Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or Master's level pre-clinical training at a training school recognised by the Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP) and post-graduate training at doctoral level in clinical child psychotherapy at a training school accredited by the ACP. Family Therapist: Registration as a Systemic Psychotherapist with UKCP or equivalent body. Clinical Psychologist: Registered with Health Care professionals Council. Psychotherapist: Maintenance of ACP Registration.

Desirable

Post qualification in systemic therapy (for psychologists)

Knowledge

Essential

Skills in the use of Systemic Psychotherapy assessment, intervention and management Knowledge of and skill in using the variety of approaches and methods within systemic practice ( social constructionist, narrative, solution focused, etc.) as required to work with individuals, couples, family systems, groups and organisations. Skills in both live and indirect supervision of therapists and/or multidisciplinary colleagues. Ability to teach and train others, using a variety of complex multi-media materials suitable for presentations within public, professional and academic settings. Evidence of continuing Professional Development as required by professional body guidelines

Experience

Essential

Substantial post qualification experience of working as a therapist within a mental health setting. Experience of working with a Multi-Disciplinary Team Experience of supervising staff in systemic approaches.

Desirable

Experience of working with children and families. Experience of working with patients in mental health crisis.
