Job overview

Band 6/7 dependent upon experience and qualification

You will provide expert assistance to multidisciplinary teams in the provision of high quality care to patients. You will work under the direction of a supervising Consultant and mentor, working collaboratively with other members of the clinical team and working within the Trust’s policies and clinical guidelines. You will be expected to liaise with other professionals and specialties as required and complete necessary documentation relating to your patients. You will perform delegated duties with a high degree of clinical skill and knowledge, working within clinical environments. You will become involved in all activities of the Directorate, including clinical governance, quality improvement projects, research and teaching. You may also represent the Directorate at internal and external meetings as appropriate

Main duties of the job

In this role, you will assess and examine patients, initiate and interpret investigations and recommend appropriate management as well as present patients and plans to the team when appropriate. Under Consultant supervision, you will participate in ward rounds, medical triage, and clinics to assess and plan management for patients. You will work with and support other healthcare professionals within the medical team.

Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Physician Associate Studies (Accredited UK)
  • Basic Life Support
  • Current and valid certification or re-certification of the National Certifying Examinations for Physicians Associates (Royal College of Physicians)
  • Experience working as a Physician Associate in hospital or community setting
  • Registered on the Faculty of Physician Associate Managed Voluntary Body
  • Passed and completed 1 year post graduate preceptorship

  • Advanced Life support course certification e.g. ILS, ALS or P
