The Addictions Team helps people in HMP Woodhill who want to break a cycle of addiction to substances such as heroin, club drugs, other types of stimulants or long-term alcohol addiction. It represents the bringing together of a variety of services under one roof to provide a better service to service users. We offer a variety of psychosocial and clinical interventions to support clients throughout their journey in custody, starting from their arrival into prison and through to their release.

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has presented itself within our service This is a unique opportunity to be part of an integrated substance misuse service combining the elements of education, prevention, treatment and recovery within a prison are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and committed Band 6 Psychosocial Team Leader to complement our Addictions Team supporting the delivery of psychosocial interventions to very vulnerable and highly complex people.

The post holder should be ready for a new challenge, show initiative in service development and work collaboratively within the multi-disciplinary team. You should have experience of working with service users with addictions to provide evidence based interventions in line with NICE guidance. The successful candidate will oversee the delivery of psychosocial interventions and line management of a team of recovery practitioners.

Job responsibilities

Clinical Duties:

To work as a member of the multidisciplinary team in the management and treatment provision of a range of specialist services to problem drinkers and problematic drug users attending the service/unit, including harm minimisation approaches, motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, individual interventions, health education and detoxification programmes, drug tests, pre and post-test discussion (BBV) key working and group work To assess continuously the psychological, emotional, social and rehabilitative needs of own clients/patients, taking into account the needs of family and local community, and developing systematic plans for care and evaluation of treatment plans To provide case management and direct clinical care to a defined number of clients as agreed with the Sector Manager. This includes assessment, ITEP care planning and providing specialist care To be able to assess and case manage drug-using clients, applying the precepts of harm minimisation To use agreed and established Outcome Monitoring Tools and any other relevant quality measures To contribute to the development, provision and review of ITEP care plans To manage the transfer of individuals between agencies and services To counsel individuals about their substance use, using motivational interviewing, relapse management and other evidence-based interventions To provide advice and support to other colleagues within the health care setting and to other agencies concerned with substance misuse To ensure full risk assessment and risk management are delivered effectively To support with administration of medications as and when required.

Management and Leadership:

To organise and provide line management and clinical supervision for staff that you hold responsibility for in line with Trust standards To contribute to the development of a culture of risk assessment and management to be delivered effectively in own area of responsibility and practice To represent the team/sector on both internal and external clinical and strategic planning forums and to act in a professional manner at all times.

Communication:

To participate in multi-disciplinary meetings, both on-site and in the community relating to client management To attend business and clinical service wide meetings and external satellites / groups as team representative, as and when required To communicate and cascade disseminated information to learners and other staff being directly supervised To develop close links with Primary Care Services and other local partner agencies as required To liaise and communicate clinical information with partner agencies within the strict guidelines/ protocol of shared confidential information between Addictions and the named partner agencies. Qualifications

Essential

oSocial Worker, Occupational Therapist, NVQ Level 3 in Substance Misuse OR qualified to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject oEvidence of continuing personal development and post-qualification training in the assessment and treatment of substance misuse clients.

Desirable

oDiploma in Drugs and Alcohol Studies or equivalent qualification oTraining in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy oCompleted Motivational Interviewing Training

Experience

Essential

oPost-registration experience working with clients in a health or social care setting, to include at least some working experience with clients with Substance Misuse problems OR post-qualification experience in substance misuse for non-registered professionals oExperience managing a caseload, to include dual diagnosis clients oExperience in undertaking Risk Assessments and Risk Management oExperience of conducting clinical audit and evaluation of client care

Desirable

oExperience of working in and delivering services to injecting drug users oExperience of working in a prescribing service oExperience of working with stimulant users and people with alcohol problems oExperience of group facilitation
