The inpatient case load consists of specialty diabetes and endocrinology cases alongside general medicine inpatients.

There is an on-call rota for diabetes and endocrinology, currently It is anticipated that with the appointment of a senior lecturer in due course, in addition to this post the specialty on-call would become 1:9. This provides specialty advice 24/7, weekend base-ward consultant rounds Saturday and Sunday with specialty in-reach to the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) and H36 (specialty ward holding area near AMU), supported by junior medical staff. The post-holder may be required to work in the Acute Medical Unit on a sessional basis but this would be no more than 2 sessions per week.
