Job summary
The Children's Department at UHCW comprises of inpatient and outpatient facilities.
There are three wards; the Adolescent Unit (Ward 14) caters for young people between the age of 13 and their 17th birthday. The children's ward (Ward 16) provides care for the 3-12 year old, with the Infant's Ward (Ward 15) nursing from birth-2 years of age. They provide a full range of emergency services and planned admissions.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work closely with Clinical Pharmacists and associated professional staff to improve the pharmaceutical care of patients and the supply of medicines by supporting with medicines management and patient centred care.
All activities will be carried out as deemed appropriate to the needs of the patient in agreement with the ward Pharmacist and in accordance with Trust and Pharmacy department SOPs.
The post is full time ( per week with weekends/late shifts and bank holidays as per rota)
Main duties of the job
Support the Paediatric ward pharmacists in delivering medicines optimisation services to patients on wards.
Work with the Operations Manager Ward Services to influence safe and cost effective drug therapy in the Trust.
Identify areas where improvements in stock list quality and cost effectiveness of pharmaceutical care may be encouraged.
Monitor changes in medicines usage across the Trust and implement changes in drug stock levels as appropriate within the pharmacy stores.Support the Clincial Team in the provision of education to healthcare professionals in medicines management within their area.
Support the Clinical Team in the development of policies, guidelines, audits, reports (both financial and clinical) and research relating to the use of medicines within their area.

Job description
Job responsibilities
There are four designated High Dependency beds, located on the Infants Ward, which can be accessed by all age groups. Facilities for children and young people with cancer are on the Childrens Ward. Children requiring intensive care are stabilised jointly by the paediatricians and intensivists prior to retrieval to a Paediatric Intensive Care Unit. There are approximately 6000 admissions per year.
This exciting new role is designed to support the clinical services in the management and provision of a comprehensive, high quality medicines management service to the Trust.
The post holder will be part of a team of Clinical Pharmacy Technicians involved in providing a range of pharmacy services on behalf of the Trust to its patients.
