Role Summary
Recovery Nurses look after unconscious patients post surgery/procedure often with airway adjuncts in and these patients require close observations and to be nursed 1 to 1 until conscious. Then patients need to their vital signs monitored every - minutes at a 1 to 2 ratio so that patients can safely be observed for any bleeding, airway emergencies, administration of analgesia or change in EWS before they meet the criteria to be transferred to the surgical wards.

Are you looking for a new challenge or to developing your surgical nursing skills? We are looking for a Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner to join our friendly and supportive Recovery team. The post provides the opportunity to develop skills and experience across the Recovery units in general, orthopaedic and women’s health theatres; caring for both adult and paediatric patients. As well as providing overnight enhanced care for level patients.
The post is open to Practitioners who have up-to-date Recovery and acute in-patient experience and are Registered General Nurses/ODPs or Registered Paediatric Nurses.
If you already have Surgical, Recovery or Critical Care experience you would be able to integrate into the established Recovery team and support future unit developments and junior staff.
The successful candidate will be supported with a 6-week supernumerary induction period and pack, as well as support from a named facilitator to enable them to gain the skills and experience required. Additionally, the Recovery Practice Educators are allocated to support the further enhancement of existing Recovery/Critical care skills and competencies.
The successful candidate will have the opportunities to develop skills/complete accredited training to enable them to support junior staff and students on placement to the unit.
Working Pattern: hours per week. Shifts, weekends, nights
