About us

Our team of receptionists aremulti-skilled and are trained to cover each other's roles for variety.

The team support 2 Partners, 3 GPs,4 Allied Health Professionals and members of our treatment room.

Full training will be given soprevious experience in a GP surgery is not essential, but experience of workingin a customer facing role would be most advantageous.

Main Duties

General front of house reception duties

Understanding and maximising the use of theclinical system (EMIS Web)

Dealing with patient medical records in anefficient and confidential manner, acceptable to the Practice

To be willing to be trained and becomeproficient in the use of the clinical system (EMIS Web).

To abide by all Health & Safety policies

To abide by all Practice policies and protocols

Duties & Requirements

Reception duties will require the use of anumber of skills to ensure efficiency of the appointments system and to allowthe monitoring of the flow of patients into the consulting and treatment rooms

To deal with patients requiring urgentappointments in a way that ensures they are seen in a logical and timely manner

Be aware of practice policies and procedures forall elements of your role

Advise patients of relevant charges for privatework and to accept and deal with payments adhering to the practice policies

Deal with all patient queries and requests forassistance, efficiently and politely

Deal with the emergency line for home visits andrecord all relevant information for the duty doctor

Be proficient at the repeat prescribingprocedures

Action requests for patient transport asnecessary

Ensure reception, waiting room and consultingrooms are kept clean and tidy after each surgery session.

Become familiar with all routine aspects of theclinical computer system and be willing to enter data, as instructed by seniorstaff

To ensure that all medical records are accurateand as per practice policies and procedures

To ensure that correspondence, reports, resultsetc are filed correctly, accurately and in a confidential manner, eitherelectronically or paper records

To assist, when requested, in arrangingappointments for patients who are recalled to the practice for regular healthchecks and reviews to meet our practice targets

To organise patient referrals to secondary careusing the current electronic system or preferred method

To abide by all Health and Safety regulations

To comply with all in-house rules as set out inthe Employee Handbook
