A Newcastle Secondary school requires a pastoral manager from October 2024 until at least  December 2024. There is a strong possibility that the role will be extend to July 2025, with the opportunity to become permanent for the right candidate.

The successful pastoral manager will  work  to support the learning and welfare of potentially vulnerable students and those close to a suspension from the main school. They will manage the schools behaviour support unit and  ensure pupils are meaningfully occupied when placed there.

This large and diverse secondary school is located close to the A1 and is easily commutable from Newcastle city centre via public transport.

Roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Contacting parents to inform them of individual students' behaviour or exclusions
  • Liaise with Pastoral links in other schools who may be using the provision, ensure the work they provide is completed and returned for marking
  • Supporting parents and students where the impact of their home life brings them into conflict with school rules
  • Liaise with external agencies to find appropriate pathways for the students involved to ensure the vulnerable students are provided with the best possible education
  • Delivering courses relevant to cohorts of students to provide them with relevant qualifications where appropriate.

  • Ability motivate and promote the welfare of children and young people.

A Gateshead primary school is recruiting for a SEND support assistant to begin work immediately.

The successful SEND support assistant work to  support  children aged 3-11  with their Education and Health Care Plans and will also be responsible for the personal care and needs of our children.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience working in a Teaching Assistant role within a primary school and will be aware of the challenges that children with complex needs can face.

As a SEND support assistant you will  work with children with special educational needs to support their development and learning.  You will work under the direction of the SENCO and class teachers to support access to learning in the classroom and outdoors.

This role will have an adapted daily timetable, as it will involve working in the classroom for periods as well as at break and lunchtime to cater to the specific needs of the  children.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
