Geocore Site Investigations part of RSK Group are seeking a dedicated and motivated Assistant Driller to join our team based in Redcar, UK. 

The successful candidate will primarily support rotary drilling, window sample drilling operations. This role requires a flexible approach to work, including occasional weekend shifts.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in rotary drilling and  window sample drilling operations.
  • Assist in the setup and breakdown of drilling equipment at job sites.
  • Conduct pre-drilling safety checks and equipment inspections.
  • Ensure all drilling operations comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Ensure drilling sites are clean and safe during and after operations.
  • Assist in the collection, labelling, and logging of soil and rock samples.
  • Document and report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards.
  • Oversee the maintenance, repairs, and inventory of department plant, equipment, and tools.
  • Adhere to best working practices and industry standards, with training and guidance provided.
  • Follow working instructions as specified by engineers, directors, lead drillers, and supervisors.
  • Communicate effectively with internal parties to ensure smooth operations.
  • Participate in weekend work on railway sites as required.
  • Perform duties of an assistant driller as dictated by workload.
  • Perform additional tasks as reasonably expected within your level of capability to meet the company's evolving needs.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Full UK Driving License
  • Experience in the maintenance of ground investigation plant, equipment, and tools.
  • Willingness to attend and pass internal and industry-recognised external training courses. These may include, but are not limited to, PTS, NRASWA, CCNSG, CSCS, CAT, First Aid, and manual handling training.

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and adhere to safety standards.
  • Proactive and flexible approach to work.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions and handle physical demands of the job.

Additional Information:

  • This position may require occasional weekend work on railway sites.
  • Candidates must be willing to undergo necessary training and certifications as required.

Salary and benefits:

  • Salary up to £30,000 depending on experience based on a working week of 47.5 Hours
