Geocore Site Investigations part of RSK Group are seeking a dedicated and motivated Assistant Driller to join our team based in Redcar, UK.
The successful candidate will primarily support rotary drilling, window sample drilling operations. This role requires a flexible approach to work, including occasional weekend shifts.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in rotary drilling and window sample drilling operations.
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of drilling equipment at job sites.
- Conduct pre-drilling safety checks and equipment inspections.
- Ensure all drilling operations comply with health and safety regulations.
- Ensure drilling sites are clean and safe during and after operations.
- Assist in the collection, labelling, and logging of soil and rock samples.
- Document and report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards.
- Oversee the maintenance, repairs, and inventory of department plant, equipment, and tools.
- Adhere to best working practices and industry standards, with training and guidance provided.
- Follow working instructions as specified by engineers, directors, lead drillers, and supervisors.
- Communicate effectively with internal parties to ensure smooth operations.
- Participate in weekend work on railway sites as required.
- Perform duties of an assistant driller as dictated by workload.
- Perform additional tasks as reasonably expected within your level of capability to meet the company's evolving needs.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Full UK Driving License
- Experience in the maintenance of ground investigation plant, equipment, and tools.
- Willingness to attend and pass internal and industry-recognised external training courses. These may include, but are not limited to, PTS, NRASWA, CCNSG, CSCS, CAT, First Aid, and manual handling training.
Skills and Attributes:
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and adhere to safety standards.
- Proactive and flexible approach to work.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions and handle physical demands of the job.
Additional Information:
- This position may require occasional weekend work on railway sites.
- Candidates must be willing to undergo necessary training and certifications as required.
Salary and benefits:
- Salary up to £30,000 depending on experience based on a working week of 47.5 Hours
