We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced nursing assistant to join our team in the Cancer & Haematology Outpatient Department as a Senior Nursing Assistant/Phlebotomist. Candidates should have completed the NHS Care Certificate or relevant equivalent together with venepuncture training and have phlebotomy experience.
Applicants should have excellent communication skills, with a caring approach and be a committed team player aiming to establish a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere for patients, visitors and staff. Full induction and training will be provided, including phlebotomy skills.
This is a very busy department seeing up to patients a day and is open from am to pm, Monday to Friday, with occasional evening and weekend shifts.
We work in a modern environment in the Cancer Centre with access to shops and cafes.

The overall aims of this role are to provide a high quality service to patients and to support the smooth running of clinics in the outpatient department. The role involves acting as co-ordinator for the shift, organising the day to day running of the clinics, transport and the care of our patients. Also assisting doctors and specialist nurses in clinic, chaperoning patients during consultations and taking blood tests (phlebotomy) and other laboratory samples. The team of Nursing Assistant/Phlebotomists are also responsible for ensuring a high standard of cleanliness is maintained throughout the department and that all equipment is stocked and available for each clinic.
The post holder will also be responsible for helping to manage and maintain the on line booking system for the clinic rooms within the outpatient setting.
