Job Overview: Transformer testing engineer is responsible for leading and managing the transformer testing department withing organization. The role overseeing the testing process of transformer as per required standard, ensuing compliance of industrial safety and regulation standards. Also will be responsible for managing a team of engineers, technician, coordinating testing activity and provide technical expertise support the organization objective.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Management: Recruit, train and develop a high-performing team of engineers and technicians. Assign responsibilities set performance expectation and conduct regular performance evaluation. Department leadership: Develop departmental goals, objectives and actions plans. Technical Manger in NABL Lab: Planning for Internal NABL Audit of testing laboratory. Coordination with QCIN of NABL Portal. Control of documents of internal and external origin. Analysis of customer satisfaction and organizing internal audit. Defining NABL objectives and targets. Convening the Management Review meeting. Identification of training needs and organizing training. Approval of Management System Manual and Test Reports. Coordination with certification body for all the technical and certification issues. Arranging procurement of test equipment, consumables, and other materials. needed for testing of transformers. Supplier selection and evaluation as per procedure. Over all in charge of technical operations of the testing department. Initiating and reviewing corrective and preventive actions. To conduct routine/type and special tests as per National/International standards. and transformer testing procedure manual. Review and approval of test reports. Prepare training needs identification and evaluation. Prepare competency matrix of test personnel. Quality review of Quality objective targets and takes actions to meet targets. Arranging procurement of test equipment, consumables and other materials needed for testing of transformers. Testing Process: 132kV class Transformer Routine, Type & Special Testing. Stay informed about change in regulations and update testing procedures accordingly. Develop new Test report formats (special & multiple winding transformers), test procedure as per IS/IEC/ANSI, Responsible for the development of testing facility for the lab. Handling Customer Inspection / doubt clarification, complaints and ISO representation, test report preparation of the same. Quality Assurance: Implement quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results. Address and resolve any quality issues that may arise during testing processes. Equipment and Resource Management: Manage and maintain testing equipment, ensuring it is calibrated and in proper working condition. Allocate resources efficiently to meet testing demands and deadlines. Technical Expertise: Provide technical support and guidance to the testing team, assisting with complex testing scenarios. Provide technical support for new product development team to get desired results. Stay up-to-date with advancements in transformer technology and testing methodologies Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings within the department. Develop and manage the department's budget, including resource allocation and cost control. Customer Complaint Management. Investigation & analysis of Customer complaints & Field return failures. Identification & Analysis of the defect trends of Defects observed during Mfg. processes by timely plotting QA Matrices and Pareto charts. Implementing effective Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA) by conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of internal production line failures and Field failures using 5-Why & Fish bone Diagram.

Qualification:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. Extensive experience (typically 10 years) in transformer testing, with a strong understanding of testing methodologies and standards. Previous leadership experience, including team management. In-depth knowledge of electrical transformer construction, and testing processes. Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations IEEE, IEC, NEMA). Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
