The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust have an exciting opportunity for a Decontamination Specialist Estates Officer to join and be part of a dedicated and hard working team within the Estates department.
The post holder will be part of a specialist team to provide a maintenance, testing and validation service for all medical decontamination equipment within the Trust. This includes sterilisers, disinfectors, steam clean systems, plant equipment and other specialist equipment described in the Job Description in this advert.

This is a permanent position, hours per week, working from Monday to Friday to and will be on call 1 in 3 weeks, 7 days per week.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will carry outplanned maintenance, breakdown repairs, testing and validation on all medical devicedecontamination equipment as listed above to ensure medical devices forinvasive procedures are decontaminated in compliance with HTM01-01 and HTM-2030.
The post holder will provide aplanned and breakdown repair service on all complex engineering servicesassociated with decontamination equipment and respective specialistaccommodation.
The post holder will provide advice on thedecontamination equipment to Trust Officers both in Estates and otherdisciplines

Job description
Job responsibilities
Acts as the Trust Test Person Sterilisers/Washer Disinfectant/Clean Steamin accordance with HTM 01-01 and HTM 2031 respectively, across all Trust properties.
Be required to participate fully in a system of planned maintenance ofequipment including responsibility for and involvement in the preparation ofmaintenance procedures and planning of maintenance schedules.
Be responsible for ensuring adequate records are maintained in compliancewith HTMs, ISO9001:2000 procedures, relevant guidance documentation and localTrust procedures. The post holder will ensure the records are filed in theappropriate location within one week of their completion.
In conjunction with the appropriate user/managers, authorise the returnto service of decontamination equipment after maintenance/validation.
Be responsible for obtaining the appropriate signature (Test Person/User)when handling decontamination equipment back into service.
Be responsible for undertaking quarterly audits of test results forcarrying out an investigation into any anomalies and on completion forproviding a written report to the Estates Management Team.
Be required to ensure continuity of service by ensuring cover throughoutholiday periods in accordance with departmental guidance.
Be responsible for undertaking development work and providing technicalsupport to other departments.
Be responsible for commissioning new equipment, including the completionof all relevant documentation.
Be responsible for monitoring the performance of external contractors,agencies to ensure that compliance standards are maintained and provide formalreports when required.
Be responsible for acquainting themselves with general technologicaldevelopments on matters related to the relevant fields of activity.
Be required to maintain familiarity with all MDA Safety and HazardNotices and MDA Device Bulletins.
Be responsible for familiarising themselves with the correct functioningand principles of the operation of all equipment for which the department isresponsible.
Be required to carry out any other duties commensurate with the grade inthe field of their expertise.
Be required to order, via the appropriate procedure, suitable replacementnon-stock items in accordance with the Trust Standing Financial Instructions.
Be able to diagnose and repair faults on general engineeringinstallations, plant and equipment.
Possess the ability to work on their own with the minimum of supervision,ensuring a quality value for money service is provided to the Trust.
Demonstrate high levels of self-motivation, determination and flexibilityboth in skills and attitude.
Possess the ability to communicate effectively with the EstatesManagement Team, other Trust persons, Steriliser Team members, other Estatesstaff and customers utilising written and/or verbal communication skills.Particular regard must be given to communication of breakdowns and missed/lateppms to the Estates Management Team.
Ensure that all works carried out comply with the Health & Safety atWork Act and all current legislation and/or guidance. The Trusts RiskAssessment pack must be utilised to ensure safe and working practises arefollowed at all times. All safety equipment/PPE equipment is available and mustbe used where required. Permit to work systems must be used in all instanceswhere departmental guidance indicates.
Ensure that relevant check lists/advice notes/Q documents areamended/updated/created to comply with the requirements of ISO9001:2000, HTMs,Manufacturers Literature and other relevant guidance documentation.
Undertake surveys and provide comprehensive reports appropriate to theduties of this job description.
Ensure the ISO9001:2000 framework is implemented and operated atoperational level in a manner that reflects the departments Quality Manual andany locally agreed procedures.
Contribute to the development and implementation of appropriateDisinfection/Decontamination procedures and Safe Systems of Work in line withHealth & Safety/Sterile Services Guidance.
Undertake data logger validation tests and produce appropriategraphs/test results using relevant computer software packages.
The post holder is responsible for undertaking plannedmaintenance/testing and validation of all decontamination equipment up to andincluding yearly testing.
Direct and work with specialist consultants in matters relating todecontamination equipment, associated plant and specialist accommodation.
Undertake risk assessments of all decontamination equipment, associatedplant and specialist accommodation.
Carry a means of communication to be contactable at all times.

Experience
Essential
Extensive experience as Test Person carrying out maintenance and validation of Medical Device Decontamination Equipment (as defined in the above HTMs). Working with and maintaining electronic systems.
Desirable
Clean Room Technology. Familiar with steam pressure systems.
Qualifications

Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship HNDC or OND/C + extensive experience as a Certified Decontamination Test Person in: HTM-01-01, HTM-2031.
