The Role:
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting students with SEMH needs in managing their behavior and achieving their academic and personal goals. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing one-on-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs, both in and out of the classroom.
- Implementing behavior management strategies and interventions to support positive behavior and de-escalate challenging situations.
- Building positive and trusting relationships with students, using a person-centered approach to understand and address their individual needs.
- Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies to develop and implement individual behavior support plans (BSPs) for students.
- Supporting students in developing coping strategies, social skills, and emotional regulation techniques.
- Providing guidance and support to classroom teachers in implementing inclusive and supportive practices.
Requirements:
To excel in this role, you will need:
- Previous experience working with young people with SEMH needs, preferably in a school or similar setting.
- A compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting students facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Resilience, adaptability, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- A commitment to promoting inclusion, equality, and diversity within the school community.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
