Job Advert: SENDCo – Permanent Role

A large and rapidly improving secondary school in Darwen is seeking a dedicated and experienced SENDCo to join its team on a permanent basis starting January 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the provision for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in a dynamic and forward-thinking environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic development of the school's SEND policy and provision.
- Oversee the identification, assessment, and provision for students with SEND, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, external agencies, and other stakeholders to deliver the best outcomes for students.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to staff to enhance their ability to meet the needs of SEND students.
- Ensure the school’s SEND practices align with the latest legislative and best practice standards.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Possess the National Award for SENDCo qualification (or be working towards it).
- Have proven experience in a SEND leadership role, ideally within a secondary school setting.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and current legislation.
- Be a strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Be proactive, well-organized, and committed to driving continual improvement in SEND provision.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
