Job responsibilities
The LCL will act as a clinical champion role modelling exemplary clinical practice and provide clinical challenge, championing the delivery of high-quality health care to ensure care is person centred and delivers the best outcomes for patients and families The LCL will influence and enhance the quality of the clinical learning and delivery environment by providing support, educational input and development activities for staff and students within HCT, working closely and in conjunction with the team managers of the integrated teams. Support the development of all staff, particularly relating to the development and maintenance of core competencies, including delegation of defined duties for HCAs, Associate Nurses and Assistant Practitioners, in order to support the workforce transformation agenda, under direct supervision of the CQL/Locality Manager. Provide and enable supervision opportunities and assessment of clinical competencies for all staff supporting case load holders and line managers. Provision of reflection and de-brief opportunities, and empowering other staff to do so. Support ICT staff with the NMC Revalidation process. Provide expert clinical advice to the ICT teams in relation to current and evidence-based nursing practice. Support pre and post registration student nurse facilitation and development. Contribute to and promote the Return to Practice programme for nursing staff. Support close partnership working with Deputy Locality Managers to ensure key priorities and risks are addressed, good practice is celebrated and shared, and poor practice is addressed. To work with quality colleagues to ensure lessons learnt are widely disseminated and embedded with the locality and wider organisation. Contribute to agreed quality improvement projects and lead on focused areas of work within the locality. Support close partnership working with matrons, and specialist nurses to ensure utilisation and dissemination of specialist experience, knowledge, and skills, and to enhance patient outcomes. Embedding of quality agenda including patient experience, patient safety, workforce and clinical effectiveness driving improvements across clinical practice Close partnership working with matrons, DSN, SPC, TVN and other specialist nurses to ensure utilisation and dissemination of specialist experience, knowledge and skills, and to enhance patient outcomes. Undertake investigations as requested which may include for example complaint, mortality reviews and/or serious incident investigations in relation to unexpected deaths in the community, providing clinical judgement on the quality of care delivered and supporting decision making of the mortality review panel. Act as a clinical champion within a designated locality ensuring that lessons learnt from incidents, complaints and SIs are fully embedded and that changes in clinical practice can be demonstrated. Support the Locality Manager and senior team to address and embed recommendations identified via peer review and/or audits of clinical practice ensuring that learning and practice change can be demonstrated.
