To be successful in this role you willneed to hold a recognised professional qualification in complementary therapiesand be registered and insured by the appropriate professional regulatory bodies. You need to have team management experienceand the ability to lead, inspire and develop the service.

Asa member of the Community Team, you will deliver effective management andleadership of the Complementary Therapy service to provide the higheststandards of evidence-based patient care.

Job responsibilities

Key Rolesand Responsibilities

1. Tomanage and lead the team of complementary therapists both employed andvolunteers and include the ongoing development and recruitment of the complementarytherapy service.

2. Beresponsible for the ongoing education, support, and development of the individualtherapists in providing therapy to patients and families with specialisedpalliative care needs.

3. Carryout meaningful annual appraisals, provide frequent formal and informal feedbackto team members.

4. Beresponsible for the complementary therapy budget.

5. Beable to hold a caseload of patients, be confident in assessment of needs anddelivering therapy interventions.

6. Completeaccurate records on the electronic database.

7. Ensuresafe and efficient management and supply and storage of oils/creams and equipment.

8. Workwith the education team in delivering education to internal and external teams.

9. Workcollaboratively with the inpatient team and the community team. Ensureeffective communication within the wider MDT.

10. Continuallystrive for and assist with the implementation of quality improvement andservice development.

11. Promotea culture of continuous learning and development and wellbeing. Identifyyour own learning and development needs and ensure yourmandatory and essential training is up to date.Undertakecontinuous professional development and clinical supervision where appropriate.Help tocreate an environment that is continually critically questioning practice andpromoting learning.

12. Playan active part in team meetings and ensure your mandatory and other relevanttraining is kept up to date.

13. Takereasonable care for your own safety and the safety of others. Adhere to all Health & Safetyrequirements, including Covid-19 secure processes and procedures.

InfectionPrevention

All Rowcroft Hospice employees in both clinicaland non-clinical roles are required to adhere to theInfection Preventionand Control Policies and make every effort to maintain high standards ofinfection control at all times to reduce the burden of Healthcare AssociatedInfections including MRSA.

Youagree to the following responsibilities:

To decontaminate your hands prior to and afterdirect patient care or contact with the patient's surroundings;

To take part in mandatory infection controltraining provided;

To responsibly manage your own infections (otherthan common colds and illness) that may be transmittable to patients, includingto contact Occupational Health for guidance.

Placeof Work

Thisrole has been identified as a Field worker (role could be carriedout at a Rowcroft site or other location, including home, subject to thevarying needs of the role. Will spend planned time at Rowcroft sites or otherlocations as the role requires which could include patient homes and Rowcroftand non-Rowcroft locations to meet the needs of the service).

Thiswill be fully discussed and agreed with the postholder to meet individual andbusiness needs.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

Extensive post qualification experience. Experience of a health and social care environment. Evidence of CPD.

Desirable

Experience of working in a palliative care setting. Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team. Experience of working with volunteers.

Essential

A good understanding of the purpose, values, and strategy of Rowcroft Hospice. Willing and able to volunteer at least one Rowcroft event each year.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

Excellent understanding and knowledge of the use and effect of complementary therapies. Understanding the holistic approach to patient care. Ability to develop and implement policies procedures and protocols. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage own caseload. Ability to plan, organise, prioritise the workload of team members. Ability to motivate. Be able to reflect on practise to promote self-development. Full UK driving license. Ability to visit patients in the community setting.

Desirable

Research skills. Counselling skills Presentation and teaching skills. Audit processes. Quality improvement experience. IT skills.

Qualifications

Essential

Professional qualification or diploma in Complementary Therapies. Registered and insured by appropriate professional Regulatory Bodies. Experience of management, audit, and evaluation.

Desirable

Professional qualification in healthcare. Relevant validated clinical courses.
