Tell me more 

  • Work with the Director of Strategy and Head of Strategy to develop the long-term vision for the business. This will require working effectively in a matrixed organisational structure with a diverse range of stakeholders to articulate the strategy and work collectively to execute it.
  • Support and direct strategic projects to identify and pursue opportunities for organic and inorganic growth for Virgin Red, including identifying and evaluating new strategic partners or alliances, new products and proposition development, new commercial structures or business models, new revenue lines, product categories and internationalisation strategies.
  • Ensure all projects and opportunities are considered in light of the overarching company strategy and stated objectives.
  • Conduct market and competitive scans, positioning analysis and evaluations and provide updates to Strategy team and business to ensure external dynamics are reflected and considered in decision-making for the business.
  • Promotes Business Development & Partnerships team(s) in the definition and articulation of strategic value add of Virgin Red to partner businesses across our suite of partner offerings including loyalty and future services.
  • Work closely with Data & Innovation and Technology teams to assess in-house incubation and innovation initiatives including strategic rationale/fit, commercial/investment case, project planning, budgets, risks, dependencies, etc. including boosting / steering preparation of investment memoranda for consideration by Virgin Red's board/shareholders where relevant.
  • Support the Director of Strategy and Head of Strategy to prepare strategy documents for senior internal and external stakeholders.

What you’ll need 

  • Solid experience (5-8 years) in strategy consulting and corporate strategy, with experience working on a wide range of strategy projects, due diligences and/or growing new business/investment opportunities.  
  • Strong experience analyzing and interpreting data, with the ability to take complex data and quickly distil a clear point of view.  
  • Trained in strategy toolkit, ability to work at pace in PowerPoint and Excel, strong communication skills and demonstrable interest in new and emerging technologies.  
  • Experience managing strategic projects from beginning to end, including initial scoping and work planning.  
  • Experience with deck creation, story-lining, stakeholder management, and making clear recommendations.  
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to use the 80/20 approach to identify most critical issues.  
  • The ability to manage multiple projects/deadlines, and drive projects forward even when confronted with obstacles. 
  • Knowledge of loyalty, airlines, consumer, technology, data, marketing and branding concepts is desirable but not required. 
  • Experience working with globally dispersed teams comprised of multiple cultures, languages, time-zones, and professional backgrounds desirable.
