Job summary

Consultant Ophthalmologist with a special interest in Glaucoma

Applicants are invited to apply for Consultant Ophthalmologist post based at the Hillingdon Hospital and Mount Vernon Hospital sites. It will predominantly cover the Strabismus and Paediatric Service and complement the provision of Ophthalmology services. They will also be expected to support Hillingdon patients treated at the Western Eye Hospital.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting time for the unit and the successful candidate will need to show enthusiasm and interest in Ophthalmology Services in secondary and community care

The main unit The Hillingdon Hospital is well equipped and we have strong links with the Western Eye Hospital, in particular the excellent weekly regional teaching on Friday mornings. All inpatient work is undertaken at The Western Eye Hospital although the post has no routine clinical sessions there.

Hillingdon Hospital is situated in West London next to the M25 and M40 close to Heathrow airport and within easy reach of Central London. Hillingdon Hospital serves a local population of around 350,000.

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute Hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics and maternity services. The Trust's services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, delivered at a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit and outpatient clinics.
