Job description

Job responsibilities

To assess, plan, implement and evaluate a high standard of care for all patients under the care of the Trust. To provide clinical advice and support to other health care workers To maintain accurate patient record keeping To act according to the Code of Professional Conduct as laid down by the Nursing and Midwifery council To provide clinical advice in accordance with current evidence based guidelines To deputise when required in the Band 7s absence and when required to delegate appropriately to other team members To have organisational knowledge relating to Trust protocols and procedures and adhere to them, particularly administration of medicine and moving and handling To support risk management at team level by accident/incident reporting, assessing and controlling risk and ensuring residual risks are escalated accordingly for senior consideration. Demonstrate clinical knowledge and skills with respiratory patients in relation to the assessment, care and management of patients with respiratory conditions. Provide clinical knowledge accordingly to clinical colleagues, patients and carers/relatives Perform clinical skills in assessment following agreed protocols for patient assessments to ensure their management is based on principles of best practice Understanding the management of patients in a deteriorating condition and escalate appropriately Ability to have effective and compassionate communication Provide sensitive information to patients, carers, and relatives Observe the provisions of and adhere to all Trust policies and procedures Person Specification

Education and Qualfications

Essential

Extensive post qualifying experience Able to support students and learners (mentorship qualification or equivalent) NMC registered, diploma or working toward degree Management /team leading qualification

Desirable

Demonstrate clinical knowledge and skills in the care of surgical patients Experience at Band 6 Experience of providing pastoral support to staff
