About the Role We are looking to welcome a qualified dispenser into our busy practice, who will play a full and active role as part of the practice multi-disciplinary team. The Team: We have an existing clinical pharmacist who will be a valuable resource for the new team member. Our trainee pharmacy technician is eager to learn and contribute to patient care. He also oversees the dispensary. We have 3 staff members qualified to dispensary assistant level 2 as well as Patient Coordinators who are involved in prescription processing. Our team is further supported by a West Norwich PCN clinical pharmacist. The main responsibilities of the role include: To process all relevant prescriptions and repeat prescriptions as authorised by GP's and prescribing nurses where appropriate, in accordance with the good practice principles of the Dispensing Services Quality Scheme; To ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription and whenever there is doubt about the appropriateness of the item, or about the dose or labelling instructions, to check with the authorising doctor or duty doctor; To collect all due prescription charges and ensure that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient; Process Hospital Letters; Process Dossett Boxes; Manage ordering stock and stock control; Preparation of monthly returns to the Prescription Pricing Bureau; Answering and dealing with dispensary phone enquiries; Monitoring patients’ exemption status; Sorting and disposing of unwanted/returned medication; Any other duties to assist in the smooth day to day running of the Dispensary and Surgery as directed by the either the Dispensary Supervisor or Practice Manager and to actively assist in other administrative areas of the organisation such as practice administration and reception. Please see attached for further information. About the Candidate If you are an experienced dispenser looking for an exciting new role, then we'd love to hear from you. You will have the following skills and experience: You will have at least a Diploma Level 2/3 Dispensary or equivalent Pharmacy Services qualification; At least 12 months dispensary and pharmacy experience; Excellent clinical and medication knowledge; Understanding and experience of working as a dispenser in GP practice setting; The commitment to continue to learn new clinical skills and develop your career; The confidence to work as part of a busy GP multi-disciplinary practice team and using your own initiative in decision making; The ability to be adaptable and flexible in your approach; Excellent patient facing inter-personal communication skills. We are a friendly and patient-focused GP organisation located in Norwich and operating Bacon Road Medical Centre and Taverham Surgery. Our team is dedicated to providing high-quality healthcare services to our community.

Across the practices we have c13,000 patients The dispensary is located at Taverham Surgery only but management of prescriptions from both surgeries is required. We are active training practices, teaching: Medical students, currently years 1, 2 & 4 as well as module 4D. ST1 and ST3 GP trainees. Foundation Year 2 doctors.
