Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and dynamic therapist to join our Speech and Language Therapy team at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Trust on a permanent basis. The successful applicant will join the Band 6 rotation programme spending 9 months in the following areas: Critical Care, General Medicine, Stroke Unit and the Integrated Community Stroke Team. There will be opportunities for video fluoroscopy, FEES and tracheostomy training.

You will be joining a forward thinking innovative team at an exciting time. The team has a focus on compassionate leadership, staff well-being and valuing every member of the team for their unique contributions.

The post is permanent and 4 days per week.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Recognised Speech & Language Therapy Degree Qualification Health Professions Council - Licence to Practice Registered member of RCSLT Evidence of successful completion of short courses related to client group

Experience

Essential

Relevant post-graduate experience in specialist area including experience with working with dysphagia and communication difficulties Experience of service planning. Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team. Experience of goal setting.

Desirable

Experience with AAC Acute working Advanced Dysphagia Training Experience of delivering training

Knowledge

Essential

Well established knowledge of assessment tools and treatment for specialist group Established knowledge of a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions (relevant to the client group) Specialist skills in dysphagia. Excellent interpersonal skills - including observation, listening and empathy skills Good presentation skills both written and verbal Demonstrates effective ability to prioritise a large caseload Knowledge of national policies and procedures (relevant to the client group) Understanding of the principles of clinical governance/audit Knowledge of standards of record keeping Enthusiasm to become involved in new initiatives Demonstrates the ability to work well in a team and to see the benefits of teamwork
