Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to become part of our dynamic neuro-elderly service. The successful person will rotate between our main sites of North Tyneside General Hospital, The Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital and Wansbeck General Hospital.

This rotational post will work with the following services - Front of House, COTE and Stroke in-patients wards, Hyper Acute Stroke Unit, off site Rehabilitation Units, Neuro- Rehabilitation Team and Paediatrics.

Main duties of the job

Applicants must be able to demonstrate experience as a Band 5 Physiotherapist in elderly care, Neurology and have some respiratory experience. Skills within orthopaedics would be advantages.

The successful applicant must also demonstrate excellent communication skills with both the multidisciplinary team and peers. There must be evidence of continued professional development demonstrating experience to support applications.

Applicants will be expected to participate in our 7-day working rota. It is noted that in the future some posts may not be traditional Monday to Friday as we embrace full 7 day working.

It is an essential requirement of the role that the post holder has a valid driving licence and is either a car owner and able to use the car for work purposes or has a Trust personal lease vehicle which may be used for the role. However, the Trust would consider making reasonable adjustments to the role, if necessary, to enable a disabled person to undertake the role.

Job description

Job responsibilities

To assess, diagnose and treat an independent clinical caseload.

To work as part of the physiotherapy team under the guidance and support of moreexperienced highly specialist senior physiotherapy staff.

To provide a high standard of physiotherapy care through one of the following;

1) a full range of specialist areas including musculo-skeletal, orthopaedics, elderly care, general medicine, respiratory, neurology, paediatrics, surgery and ITU. The rotational element of the role develops individuals specialist skills across a range of therapeutic modalities.

OR

2) a static post within one of the above sub-specialist teams. This role will incorporateinpatient, outpatient and community activity in both primary and secondary care settings and support the development of specialist skills and knowledge.

To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.

Qualifications

Essential

BSC Honours degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent experience and/or qualification Member of the Health Professionals Council Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
