Building on service development since , an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Clinical Psychologist has arisen within Betsi Cadwaladr University Local Health Board (BCUHB). This role is to lead the ongoing development of the Staff Wellbeing and Support Service BCUHB.

The post holder will be based in the Workforce & Organisational Development Team, but will be professionally accountable to the BCUHB Director/Head of BCUHB Psychology & Psychological Services via the BCUHB Head of Health Psychology. The post holder will lead and support the on-going development of a consistent and integrated staff wellbeing and support service, based on the principles of a ‘blended’ model of a range of interventions and support services, working closely and in collaboration with a range of staff support and wellbeing providers and leads within BCUHB. There will be a need to work closely with WOD, Occupational Health & Wellbeing, clinical and operational service leads, Wellbeing Champions, Wellbeing Coaches, Counsellors and other providers and innovators in staff wellbeing and support. As part of the leadership role, you will also be responsible for managing an annual budget and contracts with external providers of wellbeing-related services.

Main duties of the job

Acting as strategic lead for the service, the post holder will also be required to undertake clinical work within BCUHB providing a direct service to staff, teams and managers and systemically with the wider organisation, particularly around compassionate leadership development. An essential component of the role will be to provide face-to-face work within hospital and across primary and community sites. Supporting service development, audit and evaluation will be key aspects of the role. Working with a range of disciplines as well as developing, as part of this, the Clinical Psychology element of a ‘blended’ staff wellbeing and support model. The role will additionally involve being responsible for the governance of the BCUHB Psychology Staff Wellbeing and Support Service, including becoming the professional and line manager for clinical psychologists and psychological staff within Staff Wellbeing. Line management responsibilities of non-clinical staff within the department will also be required.

The post holder will also be a member of the BCUHB Health Clinical Psychology Department, which is a supportive, friendly and growing department of Clinical Psychologists and Psychotherapists working in physical health services across BCUHB. This is a department supported within a much larger BCUHB Psychology and Psychological Services Directorate so there will be excellent opportunities to network widely for CPD and peer support across Health and other specialties.

Person specification Qualifications and/or Knowledge Essential criteria Good Honours degree in Psychology. Eligibility for BPS Chartered status. Post-graduate Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to ) as accredited by the BPS. Registration with Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Clinical Psychologist. Formal management and leadership training. Doctoral level advanced specialist knowledge of clinical psychology theory and practice, psychological therapies and their application, neuropsychological and psychometric assessment and interpretation. Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis as practised within clinical psychology. Knowledge of relevant legislation and its implications for both clinical practice and professional management in relation to Psychology and employee wellbeing. Evidence of Continuing Professional Development as required by HCPC. Desirable criteria Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice. Highly developed knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies and interventions relevant to staff wellbeing and occupational stress ( Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for PTSD, depression and anxiety; Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR); Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT); Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), other Mindfulness-based therapies ( MBSR/MBCT) and Compassionate Leadership approaches) Highly developed knowledge of the theory and practice of highly specialised psychological therapies and assessment methodologies. Recognised qualification in supervision. Advanced training in research design and methodology. Record of publications in peer reviewed or academic or professional journals and/or books. Experience Essential criteria Sufficient experience to demonstrate a level of competence to satisfy the assessment requirements of two BPS/ACP-UK National Assessors in Clinical Psychology for entrance into Consultant Grade. Substantial post-qualification experience of working as a senior Clinical Psychologist, including significant post-qualification experience within the designated speciality where the post is located, or relevant transferable skills. Demonstrates further specialist training/experience through having received extensive and demonstrable clinical supervision of working as a highly specialist Clinical Psychologist. Experience of highly specialised psychological assessment and intervention with a range of clients across a wide range of care settings, including with staff (individually and in groups). Extensive experience of working with client groups across an increasing range of clinical severity. Extensive experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients’ psychological care, with experience of co-ordinating care within the context of multi-disciplinary care planning. Extensive experience of providing teaching, training and clinical supervision. Desirable criteria Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts. Experience of representing psychology within the context of multi-disciplinary care. Experience of the l management of qualified clinical psychologists and other staff. Experience of providing health and/or social care staff wellbeing support within the context of a pandemic.
