About the Role:

As the Cyber Security Specialist your role will be to enhancesecurity and protect organisational assets and users by monitoring, detectingand responding to security incidents within the Security Operations Centre(SOC). You’ll play a critical role in incident response, swiftly investigatingand mitigating security breaches to minimize their impact and proactivelymonitor and detect emerging threats and communicate findings to stakeholders.

Some of the duties in this role will be to -

Develop and implement security policies, procedures, and standards to safeguard the organisation's data and systems. Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and recommend appropriate actions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Protects system by defining access privileges, control structures, and resources.
Implement and maintain security controls. Provide incident response in the event of a security incident or breach. Monitor systems and networks for intrusions, attacks and unusual activity. Keep up to date with the latest security and technology developments and research/evaluate emerging cyber security threats and ways to manage them. Security Testing: Plan and execute security testing activities, including SAST/DAST/IAST, penetration testing, fuzz testing, and vulnerability scanning, to evaluate the effectiveness of security controls and identify weaknesses Security Architecture: Assist in designing and implementing secure application architectures, including authentication mechanisms, access controls, encryption, and secure communication protocols

About you

You’ll need to be proficient in Windows operating systems andsecurity configurations and have experience with incident management processesand tools as well as experience working with APIs (Application ProgrammingInterfaces) for integrating security solutions.

You’ll also need experience of key cybersecurity controls such asAnti-malware, EDR/XDR/NDR, SIEM, Email and Web Security, VulnerabilityManagement, SOAR/automation and an understanding of common cybersecuritythreats and mitigation techniques with a keen interest in keeping yourknowledge and skills up to date.

Understanding of Cloud security fundamentals, including how tomonitor and secure IaaS, PaaS and SaaS platforms, Azure AD, Microsoft 365 andAzure Security, and CSPM would be advantageous.

Strong general IT skills and a good understanding of ITInfrastructure, including Windows laptops and servers, cloud platforms such asMicrosoft Azure/Office 365/AWS, networking and firewall is also essential forthis role.
