Fixed term contract/ secondment opportunity for 12 months

The Respiratory Medicine Department is a busy and interesting work environment. We provide many services including lung cancer, sleep, asthma, interstitial lung disease, emphysema, cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis, oxygen, COPD, tuberculosis and respiratory physiology diagnostics.

We are looking to recruit a Data Officer for our Lung Cancer Team to ensure robust data recording in alignment with our cancer alliance targets.

Main duties of the job

To work with our current team of secretaries, MDT co-ordinators, Consultants and Nurses to provide admin support. The post holder will be required to assist with data input, audits, prepping MDT meetings and minute talking.

You will need excellent and approachable verbal communication and organisational skills, a strong eye for detail is essential in the role due to patient pathways.

Job responsibilities

Produce regular information for national and local mandatory returns by extracting data from trust databases and creating reports, carrying out data validation and using analytical in order to meet nationally and locally agreed/defined outlines. Collect accurate and timely information from the Cancer System named Somerset and produce exception/breach reports in order to highlight and analyse variance in patient flow, allowing the Senior Nurse/Matron and Operational Manager to identify and implement corrective actions. Produce and provide the Respiratory Medicine Directorate and designated management staff with daily, weekly and monthly breach reports to assist the efficient delivery of operational and strategic decision making and planning. Collect 24/7 Lung Cancer data to ensure continuity in data collection. Be able to identify system errors
