Our established but fast-growing pharmacy team is expanding further, so are you a Pharmacy Technician wanting to make a difference to the health of our patients in the PCN network and contribute to an exciting programme oftransformation as we deliver our ambition to provide an improvedperson-centred, co-ordinated patient care system.
The DES contract for PCNs provides new exciting opportunities for experienced pharmacy technicians, who will be practice-based, to work in anew environment and in different ways. Our PharmacyTechnicians work across 12 GP Practices within the Rugby area, supportingthe Practice-based Clinical Pharmacists to ensure the delivery of safe,effective and efficient systems for repeat prescribing, medicines optimisation,reducing medicines waste and maximising patient outcomes. Innovative ideas are welcomed, andexcellent communication skills, enthusiasm and motivation are essential skillsfor a successful candidate. Working within a multi-disciplinary team,you'll deal with daily medication requestsand queries, communicate with patients and Community Pharmacies and be responsible for encouraging the development of betterunderstanding of the principles of medicines optimisation throughout thepractice teams, promoting good practice in line with therapeuticdevelopments. This will involve assisting the Practices in achieving nationalrequirements, NICE implementation and utilisation of medicines optimisationinitiatives.
Main duties of the job
Manage incoming medication requests, from Patients,Pharmacies, Care Homes etc. and assist the Practice admin team/s with medicationqueries.
Liaise withpatients to resolve queries and support their use of medication
Contribute towards improvement of prescribing processes ingeneral practice
Promotion of electronic repeat dispensing and onlineordering
Carry out housekeeping whilst in patient records doseoptimisation and medicines synchronisation
Use and maintain informationsystems and databases relevant to the position including incident reporting,medicines optimisation, prescribing data, cost savings and patient outcomes
Handle function specific information, which may besensitive, complex or confidential and appropriately recording, transferringand/or coordinating such information in accordance with the Data ProtectionAct; Caldicott Guidelines & the Confidentiality Code of Conduct.
To utilise GP practice clinical systems to conductprescribing audits and to undertake, participate and share the outcomes ofclinical audits

Essential
Comfortably computer literate with an ability to use clinical systems (desirable) and Microsoft office packages (essential) Understand the aims of current healthcare policy within the PCN Able to analyse and interpret prescribing data Has attention to detail, able to work accurately, identifying errors quickly and easily Able to effectively manage allocated resources Has a planned and organised approach with an ability to prioritise their own workload to meet strict deadlines Able to think analytically; anticipating obstacles and thinking ahead; using analytical techniques to draw logical solutions to problems Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, with the ability to adjust communication style and content to suit the audience Excellent verbal and written communication skills with team members, patients, carers, and other healthcare professionals. Whilst recognising peoples needs for alternative methods of communication Influencing and negotiating skills An excellent understanding of data protection and confidentiality issues

GpHC Registration as a Pharmacy Technician BTEC/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in pharmacy services
