Job summary

This role is for a Second Chef position at Barchester Healthcare, a leading healthcare provider with over 224 homes and hospitals across the UK. Main duties of the job

As a Second Chef at Barchester Healthcare, you will have the opportunity to work with fresh, seasonal ingredients and deliver hotel/restaurant standards without the long hours and split shifts. You will work closely with the Head Chef to develop menus that are tailored to the residents' needs and preferences, ensuring they receive high-quality, wholesome meals. The role also involves managing the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence, leading and motivating the team, and completing regular audits to maintain high standards.

Working as a bank Second Chef at Barchester, you will have the chance to deliver hotel/restaurant standards without the split shifts and long weeks. You will assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavoursome and well balanced menus whilst working with residents to tailor menus around them. NEED TO HAVE

Qualifications

Essential

The role requires a qualified chef with a City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent, experience in helping lead and inspire a team, a good understanding of nutrition, and experience of working with fresh, seasonal food. Strong communication skills, the ability to create a warm and welcoming environment, and a good understanding of HACCP are also essential.
