Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Role in Bramhall, Stockport

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Psychology Graduate to join an Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ secondary school in Bramhall, Stockport. This full-time position begins in October and will run until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of becoming a permanent role depending on performance.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students' academic, emotional, and social development. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-to-one or small group support to students, helping them overcome learning challenges and achieve academic success
  • Supporting the delivery of tailored intervention programs for students with special educational needs (SEN) or those requiring additional emotional or behavioural support
  • Assisting classroom teachers with lesson preparation and classroom management, particularly in subjects related to psychology, social sciences, or pastoral care
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and promoting emotional well-being by supporting students in managing social and emotional challenges
  • Assisting with the development of resources for differentiated learning to meet the individual needs of students
  • Monitoring and tracking student progress, providing valuable feedback to teachers to adapt lesson plans and support strategies
  • Working closely with the school’s SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and pastoral team to ensure all students receive the appropriate support for their educational and emotional needs
  • Contributing to extra-curricular activities aimed at supporting mental health and well-being, such as mindfulness or emotional literacy workshops
  • Helping to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every student feels supported
  • Supporting students in their preparation for exams and assessments, helping them develop effective study habits and stress management techniques

What We’re Looking For:

  • A recent graduate with a degree in psychology or a related discipline
  • A genuine interest in education and a desire to support students with their learning and emotional well-being
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
  • A proactive, patient, and empathetic attitude, with the ability to work effectively in both one-on-one and group settings
  • Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEN, is highly desirable but not essential
  • A desire to pursue a career in education, psychology, counselling, or a related field
