An opportunity has arisen for a band 8a Medicines Governance Pharmacist to join our Primary care medicines management team You will support the Head of Pharmacy and Clinical Effectiveness and Formulary Pharmacist working with GP practices and wider teams across Aneurin Bevan University Health Board

You must be a registered pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC); and you should be able to demonstrate excellent organisational and time management skills. The successful candidate will be able to prioritise workload, work independently, build key relationships and be confident interacting with a wide range of stakeholders such as GPs, practice nurses, secondary care clinicians and patients.

Main duties of the job

The role will:

Ensure that prescribing across ABUHB is clinically effective, safe, and cost effective, supporting medicines governance in line with medicines legislation and guidance from NICE and the All Wales Medicines Strategy Group (AWMSG).

Advise GP practices on their performance against national and local prescribing indicators, supporting the implementation of change and act as a prescribing adviser for specific practices

Support the Clinical Effectiveness & Formulary pharmacist in providing expert pharmaceutical and professional advice to the ABUHB Medicines Therapeutics Committee (MTC), assisting with new formulary medicines requests and maintenance of the ABUHB formulary.

Be responsible for the development of and contributing to ABUHB prescribing policies and guidelines including the health board processes for requests and use of Patient Group Directions (PGDs).

Provide specialist advice to and support the Medicines Safety Group and Controlled Drugs Local Intelligence Network (CDLIN) on the safe use of medicine.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
