POSITION: Casual Housekeeper
DEPARTMENT: Housekeeping
REPORTS TO: Executive Head Housekeeper / Deputy Head Housekeeper / Housekeeping Supervisor
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION
To obtain the highest quality of cleanliness within the bedrooms and all public areas. All work should be carried out promptly, efficiently, trouble free and courteously to maximise guest satisfaction. All work will be in line with the resort’s guidelines and service concepts.
About The Role
TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
PROVIDE THE HIGHEST STANDARDS OF CLEANLINESS AND SERVICE TO GUEST ROOMS
Collects daily worksheet each morning with applicable key card and returns it by the end of the shift
Keeps bedroom door open while working in the guest room, and locks door properly when leaving the room
Maximises job efficiency and neat, orderly appearance by maintaining supply trolley and hoover
Stocks supply of trolley correctly in the morning and afternoon with all necessary linens, guest supplies and cleaning equipment
Ensures rooms are cleaned according to operational policies and standards
Ensures public areas are cleaned to a very high standard according to operational policies and standards
Removes soiled bed and bathroom laundry and replaces with clean laundry
Removes accumulated rubbish from bedrooms
Cleans bathroom area
Dusts all surfaces
Reports any maintenance issues or defective equipment to management
Is fully aware of Roe Park Resort service concepts in bedrooms and bathrooms such as replenishing promotional materials, literature and stationary
Is fully aware of Roe Park Resort service concepts in the public areas
Is aware of any traces that are required and follows up on them
Replenishes room amenities
Hoover room
Secures allocated keys in accordance with the hotel policy especially while on duty
Records any lost property found and follows guidelines as set
Minimises wastage of use of products
Is aware of procedure of soiled and unusable linen
Demonstrates teamwork by co-operating and assisting colleagues as needed
Leaves all guests belongings in stay over rooms unless they have been discarded in rubbish
Assists guests and other departments by removing food trays and trolleys from bedrooms
Reports to the Head Housekeeper if a guest room has the “do not disturb” sign on the door
Completes full cleaning of any room as requested by Head Housekeeper/Deputy Head Housekeeper/Housekeeping Supervisor
Attends to guest needs and requests courteously and efficiently
SECURITY, HEALTH & SAFETY
Maintains safety, maximum security and confidentiality in regards to guest and hotel at all times
Keeps master key secure and returns at end of shift
Prohibits individuals access to bedrooms unless he or she can prove that they are the guest allocated to that room
Ensures that all potential and real hazards are reported appropriately immediately
Fully understands the hotel’s fire, emergency and bomb procedures
Follows emergency procedure to ensure safety and security of guests and other employees
Works in a safe manner that does not harm or injure self or others. Knows how to protect self against chemicals, and is aware of harmful chemicals used
Supports a safe hotel by applying hotel regulations, and adhering to existing laws and regulations
Reports any suspicious behaviour of guests and staff to the Head Housekeeper or Duty Manager
Maintains a high standard of personal hygiene, clean uniform, appearance, body language and conduct
Knows and adheres to the lost/found procedure
MISCELLANEOUS
Good attendance and timekeeping are vital
Assists the Head Housekeeper/Deputy Head Housekeeper/Housekeeping Supervisor or management with any other tasks not detailed above, as and when required.
Attends meetings and training when required
Accepts flexible work schedule necessary for the department
Maintains own working area, and checks materials are kept clean, tidy and in good shape
Strides to give job quality and professionalism within the allocated areas
Adheres to hotel policies and procedures
Uses practical shoes
Wears limited jewellery – no bracelets/bangles or long earrings to be work
Co-operates with other departments
Is a team player
Continuously seeks to improve way of working
Brings ideas relating to the job to the Head housekeeper's attention
Knows where to refer guests and find information regarding hotel facilities, opening hours etc
Other requirements
Must be able to travel to work
Must be available for shifts to suit hotel requirements
Must be available Monday-Sunday
Must be totally flexible and able to work shifts/hours in conjunction with hotel business
Must be available for weekends
Must be available for bank holidays including Christmas holiday period
