Job summary

We are looking to recruit two Senior Server Engineers on a fixed-term contract until March 2026. One of these positions will primarily focus on managing and supporting Microsoft SQL Server. This role requires a highly specialized resource within the ICT department. The candidate should both already possess and be willing to develop technical expertise across the various technologies and services managed by the infrastructure team. There will be opportunities to engage in project work and adopt new technologies to meet business needs.

Main duties of the job

Management of the server team, DC and Server Rooms in the absence ofthe Data Centre Manager. Server capacity planning, monitoring, and reporting. Assisting with the development and maintenance of the server standards,policies, and procedures. Implementation and monitoring security within the server infrastructure.Implement approved changes. Schedule and carry out routine maintenance tasks. Updating server infrastructure documents. On call support.

Proven experience in IT management role within an organisation with 2000+ users. Managing and supporting (2nd / 3rd Line support) Microsoft Server environment, specifically in the following technologies: o Windows Server o SQL Server o Active Directory/DNS/DHCP/Group Policy o Linux o Microsoft Azure o Microsoft Exchange o Microsoft Defender o Failover Clustering and NLB o SCCM o Web Proxy o HPE Rack and Blade Servers o HPE Synergy Managing and Supporting Storage Solutions: o HPE o Huawei o Tintri o Qumulo o FCOE o CNA (Unified Fabric) o DC Networking o Fabric Zoning Service Monitoring, Trending and Availability SCOM Managing and supporting a Virtual Environment using VMWare vSphere. Managing and supporting a Backup environment using Commvault. Managing and supporting an Email and File Archiving Solutions. Data centre management and monitoring. Liaison and negotiation at a senior level with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Ability to lead staff as well as delegate tasks accordingly. Excellent understanding of technology, its direction, and its application to business. Highly specialised technical background with the ability to lead staff as well as delegate tasks accordingly. Essential

Effective Team lead and member. Professional approach with staff and customers. Excellent, timely skills in Report writing and Project Planning. Candidates must be able to think strategically and keep track of progress towards achievement of milestones, whilst at the same time having a thorough understanding of events happening at the detail level. Must be able to prioritise tasks and deliver to key Trust areas when said technical resources are in short supply. Must demonstrate the ability to maintain concentration and focus, despite constant interruptions. Customer contact skills - effective telephone communication skills. Ability to work in a highly pressured environment.
