About us

The Microbiology laboratory is a large NHS laboratory serving both NUH campuses, as well as Nottinghamshire Healthcare Trust and Clinical Commissioning Groups with a total population of ~640, department is actively involved in the clinical management of microbiological and virological infection with regular ward rounds and liaison with the specialist units, works closely with colleagues in Infectious Diseases and supports antimicrobial stewardship within the trust and community.

Training and Qualifications

Essential

PLAB for non-European Graduates Full GMC Registration Completed foundation training or equivalent

Experience

Essential

Good and wide range experience of clinical medicine in an acute NHS inpatient setting for at least 2 years.

Desirable

Evidence of commitment to a career in infection.

Communication and relationship skills

Essential

Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team Evidence of ability to communicate with professionals. Aware of own limitations, consults senior colleagues appropriately and knows when to ask for help

Analytical and Judgement skills

Essential

Evidence of participation in, and commitment to clinical audit. Experience of and commitment to teaching medical students, more junior doctors and allied health professionals
