Location United Kingdom Worcestershire Worcester Company Siemens Energy Limited Organization Gas Services Business Unit Distributed Full / Part time Full-time Experience Level Not defined Job Description: Materials Engineer (Laser Powder Bed Fusion) A Snapshot of Your Day We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced materials engineer (m/f/d) to join our team at Siemens Energy. This position is based in Worcester, with the possibility of a one-year delegation to a Siemens Energy development partner in Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF) technology. The primary focus of this role is the development and implementation of L-PBF for processing titanium and aluminum alloys, both for Siemens Energy applications and for our external customers. How You'll Make an Impact As a materials engineer, your key responsibilities will include: - Defining, planning, leading, and executing R&D projects as part of the technology development strategy. - Managing Siemens Energy's R&D L-PBF programs within strategic technology development partnerships, both internal and external. - Providing support to Siemens Energy's external businesses. - Acting as the interface between Siemens Energy and internal counterparts on R&D projects. - Regularly reporting project status to Siemens Energy management. What You Bring To be considered for this position, you must possess the following qualifications: - An excellent university degree in materials engineering or mechanical engineering. - Proven and extensive knowledge in L-PBF process parameter development on different LPBF systems, as well as design of experiments. - A deep understanding of defect-forming mechanisms associated with L-PBF processing of challenging-to-weld materials, and expertise in mitigating such phenomena. - Extensive and proven knowledge of LPBF processing and post-processing of titanium and aluminum alloys. Additional expertise in LPBF processing of Ni-base alloys is a plus. - Comprehensive knowledge of material properties of titanium and aluminum alloys, and advanced understanding of material properties of Ni-based alloys, Co-based alloys, and steels. - Demonstrated project management skills, with experience in executing R&D projects involving multiple partners from industry and academia. - Expertise and affinity in strategic technology planning and technology road-mapping. - Ability to work autonomously and take initiative, with a strategic mindset and a strong customer focus. - Excellent communication skills, both with internal customers and external partners. - Proven industry experience in a relevant field. - Fluent in English.
