Job summary
We are looking for a caretaker/cleaner to carry out a range of handyperson duties, security aspects and cleaning at the practice as part of our Maintenance team. The would be undertaken over 5 days Monday to Friday, to
Main duties of the job
Be responsible for locking practice premises and activating security alarms. Be involved in regular testing of various equipment and recording the same. Reporting problems to the supervisor. Undertake a range of handyperson duties such as remedial works, repairs to fittings, taps, cisterns, fitting shelves and notice boards. Take meter readings where needed. Responsible for safe pedestrian access including clearing paths and entrances. Cleaning the practice in line with the set plan as part of the maintenance team. Comply with Health and Safety regulations.
About us
We are a general practice with 9500 patients. We have a practice team of GPS, Nurse, Associated Roles, Administrative staff and Maintenance staff who are supportive and friendly. As we are a health care organisation, cleanliness and infection control is of utmost important and we have established processes and plans in place that need to be followed.

Job responsibilities
Responsible for locking of premises, includingdaily security procedures, regarding keys and equipment etc. Ensuringunnecessarily appliances/equipment are switched off and that there are no fireor security risks.
Undertake a range of general and specialisedcleaning duties including bit not limited to telephone, internal glass, windowblinds, curtains changing, cleaning drains and gulleys, floor maintenance andwhere appropriate the operation of specialised equipment.
Use specialist handtools (screwdrivers,spanners, socket sets, allen keys etc) to remove radiator covers, guards, lightfittings as necessary to clean and ensure that they are re-fitted correctly.
Undertake minor daily maintenance dutiesreplacing tubes, light bulbs, plugs and fuses, minor repair and redecorationwork and completing log books.
Undertake heavy duty cleaning as required.
Ensure that grounds pathways car parks andentrances are clean, tidy and well maintained; including moving snow and lightgritting in winter months as necessary.
To ensure responsibilities met with Health andSafety laws and regulations.
Receiving, sorting and distributing of store,mail and parcels.
Moving furniture and equipment within premises.
Ensure the correct collection, transportationand storage of waste at all times in line with policy.
Ensure that work is carried out in line withpolicy and appropriate records updated for fire alarms, legionella testing,emergency situations.

All staff are required to attend training appropriate to their role in safeguarding children and adults, which includes understanding and recognising the signs of abuse and knowing how to raise concerns when those signs of abuse are noticed in a person.
Cooperatewith the practice to see that Health and Safety responsibilities are undertaken.
Performduties in line with health and Safety and COSHH regulations and take actionwhere hazards are identified, reporting serious hazards immediately to the supervisor or Practice Manager.

Knowledge of Health and Safety Practices, COSHH, Manual Handling and Work Procedures. Experience of Similar role. Experience of Operating cleaning equipment. Time management and organisation skills To be flexible adaptive and responsive. Willing to adapt and learn. Hardworking, dedicated and an effective team worker. Willing to undertake training . Abe to work at height Able to prioritise. Able to apply standards consistently. Able to manage challenging situations. Able to work as part of a team and also without direct supervision.
