Are you an experienced Infection Prevention Practitioner in the acute setting?

Two exciting opportunities have arisen at West Herts Teaching Hospitals to join the expanding Infection Prevention and Control Team (IPCT).

The two new team members will be instrumental in setting up divisional working within the Trust with the existing team members, building relationships with clinical staff across the three sites.

The posts are key to the delivery of our annual plan which seeks to embed evidence-based practice and brilliant basics.

Please note post will be moved up to a Band 7 when competences have been met.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to:o Provide specialist advice and expertise to support the prevention, surveillance, and control of infection across Contribute to the day-to-day maintenance and further development of a high-quality proactive, responsive, and accessible infection prevention and control Developing and reviewing specialist infection control policies and protocols, in order to promote and maintain the highest standards of infection prevention and control practice that is evidence and research-based, provide training and education to increase awareness of infection prevention and control issues and antimicrobial stewardship amongst all disciplines and grades of Colleagues within the Contribute to the Annual Infection Prevention and Control work programme on behalf of the Infection Prevention & Control Team (IPCT).o Create quality improvement projects across a wide range of settings to support the best evidence Support the Band 6 IPC specialist practitioner Assesses patients/clients, plans, and implements care in a variety of settings, and provides highly specialist advice; maintain associated recordso Undertakes research and leads clinical audits in own specialist area.

Qualified nurse, midwife or allied health professional with a degree Mentoring/ teaching qualification Post graduate study in the specialty

Extensive knowledge of IPC gained from band 6 position in an IPC team Self-driven to find out information from external sources. Ability to critically analyse evidence and academic articles

Experience

Essential

Working as an accomplished practitioner in field of practice at band 6 level. Experience of IPC in acute setting. Experienced in education delivery in different settings clinical area and classroom.

Desirable

Experience in healthcare education.

Skills and ability

Essential

IT literate Able to design and deliver training to meet educational needs of audience. Excellent interpersonal skills with colleagues across specialities and professions, as well as patients and visitors Excellent organisational skills for arranging audits and training. Proficient in management of patients with alert organisms.
