Job summary

Do you have experience working clinically in a mental health setting? Are you interested in enhancing your skills by working in different areas?

In this newly established rotation across mental health you will gain experience of inpatient and community settings as well as be supported to develop your leadership and managerial skills to help with future career progression.

Successful candidates must be confident in their assessment and clinical reasoning skills, be able to manage their time effectively and be a proactive member of the multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities include managing a caseload, supervising junior members of the therapy team and maintaining your own CPD all whilst being responsive to the needs of a busy service. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team to provide a high standard of occupational therapy to service users and ensure the occupational needs of service users are being met.

Excellent communication skills are required and the ability to be adaptable, flexible and creative when working with people with varying levels of need.

Alongside clinical duties you will be supported to gain experience and skills in leadership, research and quality improvement as well as other training relevant to your post. HCPC registration required.

Main duties of the job

Main duties include:

To carry out the initial screening and assessment of all service users and to undertake intensive short-term treatment where appropriate. To manage a caseload of clients with complex Occupational Therapy needs, using evidence based/client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions. To review and reflect on your own practice and performance through effective use of professional and operational supervision and appraisal. To work as an effective and supportive member of the MDT, working within local ward policies and supporting core functions of the team delivery, including being part of PEACE interventions. To provide leadership for junior/non-registered Occupational Therapy staff through supervision and appraisal, identifying appropriate caseloads, reviewing interventions and delegating responsibilities as appropriate.

Job responsibilities

This is a rotational band 6 occupational therapy post across the different clinical areas within mental health services in Oxford Health, where the post holder will provide specialist occupational therapy assessment and treatment interventions for the specified service user group. They will carry a complex caseload as a member of the MDT, supervise junior members of the therapy team, support the development of the occupational therapy service provision within the setting and engage in leadership development as part of the role.
