Royal Museums Greenwich is a collection of diverse historical sites. The sites are the National Maritime Museum, Cutty Sark, the Royal Observatory, and the Queen’s House. Each of these sites has a unique identity and a common purpose to serve our communities, through sharing our collections and expertise. The role is related to an application for NLHF funding for the project and will only be appointed if successful.

Working on the First Light project and reporting to the Senior Partnerships Manager, First Light, the Partnerships Officer, First Light will assist with the development of a First Light audience plan and programme, building on the creative thinking already underway. This role will support the Senior Partnerships Manager, First Light in both the development and delivery phase of the project. Key development-focused responsibilities will include assisting with the development of a First Light audience engagement plan, programme and partnerships.

Additional responsibilities include working with the Royal Observatory Curatorial teams to develop community research and outreach projects and ensure feedback from critical friends is integrated into the wider project development process. Key delivery-focussed responsibilities include overseeing the delivery of specific programmes or projects with community partners, and to continue working alongside the wider First Light project team to find ways in maximising audience engagement in the development and testing of new exhibition and gallery content.

The successful candidate will need to have experience in developing relationships and/or community partnerships within a heritage, public sector, or education setting; experience of delivering audience engagement projects that encourage participation and dialogue; and enthusiasm for STEAM and heritage learning. Experience of project management, evaluation, and reporting to stakeholders/funders is essential to this role. The successful candidate will be a creative thinker, with experience of working with culturally sensitive and under-represented histories. Excellent written, verbal and communication are essential to this role, as well as a commitment to diversity, representation, social inclusion and access within the cultural sector.

This is a fixed-term post to deliver the First Light project, with potential for extension depending on funding.Core hours of work will be 36 per week, working 5 days between the hours of 9am-5pm, although due to the nature of the work, some flexibility may be required.

Salary: £35,885 per annum
