Construction Operative

Are you an experienced construction worker looking to work locally?
Are you someone who likes working outdoors and has some experience in simple groundworks and installation?
Would you be interested in training to gain your HGV Class 2 Driving Licence?
If you’re someone who can learn on the job and turn your hand to various manual tasks, then this role could be what you are looking for.
Who are we?
Clear Channel UK are a leading Out of Home media owner, operating more than 33,000 advertising sites nationwide. We are a friendly and culture led company who value and support our employees to be the best they can be. We also care about the communities we work with and the environment too
A few years ago, we brought the construction of our advertising sites in house. Since then, the team have been extremely successful in delivering hundreds of site builds, including our newest digital units, billboards and large Storm installations.
We’re excited to be working on some interesting projects next year and now looking for a Construction Operative to join our growing team in Dartford.
What will you be doing?
You’ll be working as part of a two-person crew, spending most of your day breaking up ground and replacing / installing new digital units for our local communities on the many contracts that we deliver on.
This will involve travelling to sites (roadsides and public areas) within the South East area and occasionally further afield dependent on business needs. You’ll receive an attractive salary of £37,000, annual bonus, paid annual leave 25 days plus bank holidays, training and development and fully expensed tools and PPE.
It’s a physically demanding role which requires you to work at height, mainly using a small step ladder, so you’ll need to be a team player and watch/help out your crew partner.
If you’re not Class 2 HGV qualified then we’ll train you up and cover the costs, however you must be able to commute independently to and from your base depot in Dartford in your own transport.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- Transport digital units from the depot to the installation site via a HGV truck (after training)
- Break ground and install digital units.
- Replace component level parts on digital units.
- Work with your crew partner to manage your workload within the agreed timescales, and in partnership with other local teams.
- Follow the Construction Design and Management regulations 2015.
- Make sure traffic management is in place before starting work with segregation/prevention measures to prevent unauthorised people within your working area.
- Follow our Health and Safety policy and the site-specific risk assessments and method statements.
- Correctly use equipment (including working at height), maintain and keep tools/equipment safe on site.
Knowledge, Experience and Attributes:
- Full driving licence with no more than 3 points
- CPCS Slinger
- Competency in CAT use.
- NRSWA accreditation to Operative standard
- Excavation and sub-structure knowledge
- Understanding of RAMS
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings
- Competency in use of power tools such as Hydraulic breakers and Disc Saws
What’s in it for you?
- Salary is £37,000 per annum (with potential overtime opportunities)
- Salary will increase to £40,000 after 12 months
- Annual bonus up to 8% of your annual salary
- 33 days holiday inc. bank holidays
- Company Pension Scheme matched to 8%
- Life Insurance and Income Protection scheme
- Healthcare Cash Plan
- Cycle to work scheme, season ticket loans and a whole host of discounts across 100s of retailers
- Social events
- Volunteering days
- Employee Discounts across hundreds of retailers
