Senior Partnership Manager, First Light

London, United Kingdom Royal Museums Greenwich Full time

Royal Museums Greenwich is a collection of diverse historical sites. The sites are the National Maritime Museum, Cutty Sark, the Royal Observatory, and the Queen’s House. Each of these sites has a unique identity and a common purpose to serve our communities, through sharing our collections and expertise. We are a place to explore the sea, space, art and history, and our strategy puts people at the core of its success.

Working on the First Light project to transform the Royal Observatory Greenwich, the Senior Partnerships Manager, First Light will develop and deliver a programme of audience engagement and participation to enhance and inform the First Light project, most particularly the delivery of a National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) engagement programme.

The role is related to an application for NLHF funding for the project and will only be appointed if successful.

This role will work closely with the Deputy Head of Astronomy, Vision and Reach, and colleagues in the Astronomy and Royal Observatory Curatorial teams to develop the First Light audience engagement plan and programme. The role will involve working on both the development phase and delivery phase of the project. Key development-focused responsibilities will include seeking out and building equitable partnerships with local and national communities and organisations to develop a new strand of heritage engagement; being the central point of contact and coordination for all involved; and working alongside the First Light project team to find ways of maximising audience engagement. Key delivery-focused responsibilities include identifying the resources needed to manage the delivery outcomes of the First Light engagement plan; to reach out to, engage with and co-ordinate key projects with community partners; and to oversee the delivery of specific programmes or projects with community partners.

The successful candidate will need to be an experienced practitioner in the cultural sector, able to demonstrate a good understanding and working practice of audience engagement and development, programming, cultural sector outcome and government policy. The successful candidate will have substantial experience of building and maintaining partnerships with multiple stakeholder engagement and an empathy for varying working practices and cultures. Experience of the creation of digital resources and project outcomes, commissioning and working with specialists, and robust financial management and reporting is essential for this role. The role will require a proven track record of leading, creative thinking, organisational and time management skills.

This is a fixed-term post to deliver the First Light project, with potential for extension depending on funding.Core hours of work will be 36 per week, working 5 days between the hours of 9am-5pm, although due to the nature of the work, some flexibility may be required.
